Chapter 3: Getting Married

Seizing their opportunity, the two thugs scrambled and fled out of the hotel. Ye Tian, indifferent, let them disappear into the stairwell.

As they vanished, the familiar system voice echoed again:

"Congratulations, you've successfully spread some dog food and earned 10 dog food points."

A plain-looking, dark green pill appeared in Ye Tian's hand.

"Just one year?" Ye Tian thought greedily, the pill looking more like a candy bean than a medicinal one.

"No way! Grandpa was fine yesterday morning! How could he be gone so soon?" Su Mei's shocked and frantic voice interrupted Ye Tian's thoughts. She was anxiously speaking into her phone.

A middle-aged woman's voice came through:

"Last night, the old master suddenly fell ill. The doctors say he might not make it this time. You should come back this week! And don't forget to bring your boyfriend; his biggest wish is to see you married."

The voice was choked with tears.

"I understand. Don't worry, I'll book a ticket now and bring my boyfriend." Su Mei hung up, her eyes brimming with tears. A single tear slid down her beautiful face, evoking a sense of pity.

Although it was an accident, Ye Tian, having just taken her virginity, cautiously approached:

"Um... are you okay?"

"No need for your fake concern!" Su Mei glared at Ye Tian, pulling out a tissue to wipe her tears.

"Should I leave then? I still have job interviews today." Seeing her unresponsive, Ye Tian tentatively asked.

"You don't have a job?" Su Mei, wiping her tears, suddenly looked up, her eyes fixed on Ye Tian. Upon his nod, she proposed, "How about I find you a job?"

Such good fortune? Now it was Ye Tian's turn to be stunned.

With the system as his trump card, Ye Tian was confident about the future and less worried about his sister's illness. But he was nearly broke and needed a job to avoid sleeping on the streets.

"What are your conditions?" Ye Tian didn't believe Su Mei, who had just wanted to sever ties with him, would offer help, let alone a job.

"I'm the CEO of Meishi Cosmetics. If you agree to one condition, I'll find you a job in the company with a monthly salary of five thousand and pay you an additional one hundred thousand."

One hundred thousand!

Ye Tian's heart raced, and he swallowed hard before asking, "What's the condition?"

"Marry me! We'll get the marriage certificate tomorrow!"

Ye Tian's eyes widened in disbelief. Just moments ago, she wanted nothing to do with him, and now she was discussing marriage and getting a certificate the next day.

But recalling her phone call,

 Ye Tian understood, "You want me to pretend to be your boyfriend, right? We don't need to actually get married for that, do we?"

"You understand. My grandfather was in the army when he was young and suffered many injuries. He was hospitalized yesterday and won't last more than a few weeks," Su Mei explained, tears streaming down her face again.

"He always urged me to get married, and his biggest concern is my marital status. If you help me with this, we'll be even for last night. I'll find you a job and pay you one hundred thousand."

After a moment's thought, Ye Tian agreed. It wasn't just for the job and payment – he had spent a night with her, after all. Su Mei was the CEO of Meishi Group, a legend among the young elites of Yangcheng and the dream girl of countless men.
