Chapter 7: The Elemental combine, katsuto's redemption
Katsuto, mitsuki and hiroto had just entered the next room where they will experience the elemental combine. They all brag about their abilities and how they will best each other.
"Hey mitsuki have you seen megumi around", says katsuto with a curious expression.
"Who is megumi?", says hiroto.
"Oh just some crush he has on this girl who probably is a water elemental", mitsuki replied with a mocking voice.
"Yeah yeah very funny mitsuki", katsuto replied with an annoyed expression.
Hiroto looks around and asks katsuto how she looks like, katsuto replies, "Well she has long blue hair, these really pretty blue eyes , These blue and white dress and thats all the striking features i can think of".
Hiroto continues to look around with a really focused expression as if he was a lion looking for his food. He continues to search and finds megumi standing with uragiri.
"I think i found her", hiroto says
"Where!?", katsuto replies with a desperate expression
"Woah relax lover boy", mitsuki replies with a mocking voice
"Right there on my left side", says hiroto while he points to his left side
"I dont see her hiroto", katsuto says
Katsuto fails to see her due to the large room.
"Wait i think i see her now", katsuto says excitedly
He's mood quickly transitions from excited to disappointed cause of the sight of uragiri.
"Nevermind i dont really want to talk to her right now, at least if that guy is not there with her", katsuto says with a low tone to express his disappointment.
"Your talking about the guy with the purple suit right?", hiroto replies with a look that expresses his familiarity with uragiri.
"You know that guy?", mitsuki enquires
"I wouldn't say know but have met" hiroto says
The conversation between the three comes to an end after a new man with a tight black shirt, muscular build, medium length black shoes and short black hair with a mullet. The room suddenly becomes silent once his presence is known.
"Thank you all for your attention, my name is daiki and i will be the one assessing you all in this elemental combine. But before i start i just want to let you guys know that i do not and i repeat do not tolerate unseriousness do you understand", Daiki says with a serious expression
"Wow, talk about a stickler right", katsuto whispers to mitsuki
Daiki hears katsuto from above his pedestal and gives him a stare that strikes katsuto's soul.
"It looks like we have a clown in this room", Daiki says with a smirk on his face
Katsuto looks around the room to pretend like he was not talking to him.
"Im talking to you red shirt!" daiki says with a voice expressing his dominance and then proceeds to jump out of his pedestal, he lands on the ground leaving cracks on the floor. He then walks to katsuto confidently but katsuto is left unphased by his presence.
Everyone in the room is stunned and frightened by daiki. Katsuto looks at daiki with an arrogant expression and daiki wonders why katsuto is not feeling any sort of fear.
"Let me guess, you thought i was going to phased by your whole entrance, give me a break", katsuto says arrogantly.
Megumi and uragiri are together, "How brave of katsuto to behave so confidently in front of this guy" says megumi. "I wouldn't call it bravery megumi, its called stupidity cause no one in their right mind would do this. Im not even surprised that he did this cause he is a street ruffian", uragiri replies insensitively.
"Must you always be like this uragiri" Megumi says
"Always be like what megumi, saying my mind", uragiri replied
"So you think your the main character in here right" daiki says
"Nah i never said that im just curious why you came all the way up there just to do what, scare me" Katsuto says proudly.
"I did not come all the way down here just to scare but to give you a warning, a friendly reminder that will teach not to talk when im speaking", Daiki says while getting close to katsuto's face.
"Oh brother", mitsuki says while letting out a sigh
"Well since you think your better than everyone, let me make an example of what i intend to do with everyone in this room", daiki says with a conniving smile.
"Go ahead, im ready for whatever yout gonna put me through", katsuto says proudly
Meanwhile at the battle arena, kenichiro is above the arena using a rock pillar as he's pedestal while he uses his earth element to rebuild the battlegrounds.
"Why did i even get myself into this mess" kenichiro mumbles in frustration
Himari and akimitsu are standing beside the walls of the battleground mocking kenichiro.
"How does it feel to be the help of the elemental hero exam kenichiro" says himari in a mocking tone
"Yeah mock me all you want but dont forget who won the battle between three of us" kenichiro says
The announcer appears from his station and flys up in the air to get the attention of the audience to give an announcement.
"Good day once again people, i just received information that the participants are in the room where their elemental combine is taking place, meaning that after that, their first exam begins right here for you guys to watch. "Bear with me people and please do not leave the stadium i beg of you". "To keep you guys entertained once more, i invited back the elemental entertainment committee to give you guys a special ceremony that they have been practicing, so i hope you enjoy it", says the announcer desperately.
The audience begin to cheer and their energy skyrockets once they hear of entertainment.
"Thank the elemental god that worked", the announcer says while sighing in relief
Meanwhile at the elemental combine, katsuto is standing beneath something that looks like a vertical jump test. He gives out an assuring smile that tells he is going to pass this. The vertical equipment is a tall rod with 10 bars that have a different height.
"Now people, this is something we call a vertical jump test!". Your goal is to jump as high as you are able to while standing to touch the highest bar. There is no running or taking a step before you start jumping. You have one chance so use it wisely, is that clear?!, Daiki says with a loud voice.
The participants in the room reply "yes".
"Yes what!?" Daiki replys with a loud voice
The participants reply "yes sir"
"Good, now katsuto is going to be our example since he thinks he's the main character" Daiki says with a serious tone
"Aight can i start now" katsuto says impatiently
"I would take my time before i start jumping cause this is your only jump" says daiki
"Wait but thats unfair, i thought i was just demonstrating". Says katsuto worriedly
"Oh so now your worried, where's all that macho you had earlier huh" says daiki
"Where did i hear that before" katsuto recalls
*FLASHBACK*
Katsuto recalls back in his thoughts to when he was fighting the wolf beast and remembers when he was down on the ground. The wolf beast said this.....
Katsuto struggles to get on his feet. "Whats wrong kid, cant get up, where's all that macho you were showing earlier? or are you just talk", the wolf beast says arrogantly
FLASHBACK ENDS
"I've gotten to arrogant now, i need to humble myself more" katsuto says in his thoughts while in realisation
"So are gonna jump or you lose points for the elemental combine" daiki says
Katsuto takes a deep inhale and lets out a continuous exhale before he says a word
"Yeah im gonna jump" katsuto says surely
Katsuto begins to look up at the highest bar with a smile on his face. He arches his legs, jumps his highest and manages to touch the 8th bar. He lands with a face of satisfaction.
*Hype music begins to play*
Everyone participant are stunned by the amazing feat that katsuto accomplish. Mitsuki gives out a smile that tells she predicted it, hiroto's jaw drops, megumi reacts joyfully, uragiri reacts as if he does not care and daiki hides his frustration.
"This boy is annoying the hell out of me, how did he manage to touch the eighth bar, especially if he's just an average size", daiki says in his thoughts while frustrated
"I guess i did it, so how much points did i get?", katsuto says
"Well since there are ten bars, and you touched the eighth one, that puts your score at 80/100, well-done." Daiki says in a proud tone
Katsuto looks up to the ceiling and lets out a shout
"Mmh, HELL YEAHHH!!!!!", katsuto shouts excitedly.
"Thats katsuto for you" mitsuki says proudly
"Now for the rest of you as you all have seen the way katsuto jumped, thats what i expect from all of you ok", daiki says strictly
*Hype music stops playing*
Katsuto walks to hiroto and mitsuki whilst daiki is talking and gives them both a high five.
"That was an impressive jump for a non-elemental, i think you might have elemental genes in you or something". hiroto says proudly
Katsuto replys saying, " Nope just your average non elemental who does 50 calf raises a day
"Great work out there katsuto" mitsuki says hesitantly
"I thought you said you wont give me any more compliments mitsuki" katsuto replys in a mocking tone
"Dont, dont make me regret it" mitsuki says in an annoyed tone
"Alright i have all your names in this sheet of paper and i will call one of you to jump so be ready at all times" daiki says
