Meeting

Chapter 45

"This is amazing!!" Elizabeth exclaimed loudly in her training clothes. Kevin was watching her with a contemplating expression on his face. It was no wonder where that ability came from since it appeared after Elizabeth shined quite brightly.

Kevin only remembered after Elizabeth exclaimed it to be an ability. He had also experienced that brightness, only once on the day when he performed the awakening ceremony for the first time. After the first time, there was no reaction.

The shine then was however brighter than the shine on Elizabeth yesterday.

They were both currently in the Derek family training ground, testing Elizabeth's new ability right now. Kevin, however, was focusing on something else.

"How did it feel?" He asked, "The awakening process." He elaborated.

"It felt amazing," Elizabeth replied, hugging Kevin for the thousandth time since yesterday.

"That's not what I meant." Kevin replied and continued, "What happens when you receive an arcane ability? What happens then?"

"Well, mostly it's feeling what that ability does," Elizabeth replied, not understanding where Kevin was going.

"So, you kind of get information about how to use the ability in your head?" He asked speculating.

"Yeah," Elizabeth replied simply.

"Liz, count your abilities and explain what they do," Kevin asked her to elaborate further.

"Well," Elizabeth counted and started saying, "My first ability allows me to heal someone or myself. Green family's ability."

"Then I have this ability that can increase people's physical condition for a brief amount of time."

"My third one is regeneration and the one that came from you yesterday is super speed. I can move very fast, about three times my natural speed for about five seconds and once used, I have to wait for about thirty minutes before I can use it again."

'That's sounds a lot like skills.' Kevin thought inwardly and said, "Do your other abilities also have time limits?"

"Yeah, all of them. I only explained the one I gained from you. My first ability can only be used once every hour, my second ability can be used five times a day and the third one can only be used once every twenty-four hours. once I use it, I have to wait for twenty-four hours and it's quite limited in regeneration in only one use."

Kevin nodded at her explanation and continued, "When you had your first ability, did it have the same time limit?"

"No. The time difference was one hour and thirty minutes. This is the only ability that has improved. The rest are kind of new."

'Not like skills. They are skills. I might have to look into that.' Kevin decided inwardly and said, "Sure. Practice it as much as you can."

"I doubt I will be able to do it more than a few times a day. It's quite stamina consuming." She replied to Kevin's suggestions.

Listening to her, Kevin had another idea, "Liz, try to tire yourself out. Use all your abilities at once."

"Are you crazy? I won't be able to move for days." She said at Kevin's ridiculous request.

"Just do it," Kevin urged while looking at a different section of his system. Mainly his shop which had unlocked once he had reached level ten but since there was no notification, he had almost missed it.

When Kevin opened the shop, some notifications scared him a bit, but it all turned out okay in the end.

[The shop's items are not compatible to the user]

[Rearranging…]

[Shop rearranged successfully]

[Level 1 shop activated]

[50 gold coins granted as a bonus]

When he checked the shop's contents, he was pleasantly surprised.

[Health potion 20 GC]

[Stamina potion 20 GC]

[Climax pill 30 GC]

[Sensitivity pill 30 GC]

[Cleansing pill 500 GC]

[Fertility pill 500 GC]

[…..]

There were many items present in the shop. Some were amazing while some were ridiculous but mostly were related to recovery or used for sexual purposes. There were some items that increased his stats, but their prices were sky-high.

Kevin tested a stamina potion and was surprised to see its effects.

But that was not why Kevin had asked Elizabeth to use all her energy. The stamina potion was a plan B. His real objective was something else.

'If Liz and I are indeed connected, then what if…' He let his thoughts wander.

Elizabeth shrugged and started doing what he asked. Around half an hour later, she was lying on the floor, completely lethargic. She couldn't even move her eyelids as they felt heavy.

"You better pray I don't spend the rest of my week like this or else…." She was still energetic enough to shout and threaten though.

But Kevin had a smile on his face. He had just received an excellent notification.

[Your partner Elizabeth Green is low on stamina]

[Would you like to use LE to restore her stamina]

[Yes\No]

Kevin pressed yes and saw ten points of LE consumed while Elizabeth felt as if all her energy had returned. She stood up, with a clear puzzled expression. Then she looked at the smirking Kevin and raised her eyebrow. Although the consumption was high in her case, it was still a good option to have.

Before she could ask, Kevin continued, "How's your pain tolerance?" There was a smile on his face and for the first time, Elizabeth had an ominous feeling looking at that smile.

=============

Kevin made his way to the living room of his mansion. He was smiling from ear to ear. All of the experiments he did with Elizabeth turned out to be successful. They really were connected.

If she was tired or injured, he could cure both using his own LE. He hadn't tried a potion yet as he didn't have enough gold coins. Besides, Stamina potions were useless for Kevin. He could simply use his LE for that.

Though he couldn't do the same for his partners or what if his teammates weren't his partners? Potions would prove valuable at that time.

He entered the living room and smiled seeing a man with ginger hair sitting there. He went closer and greeted the man with a smile on his face.

"Hello, uncle." The man stood up and turned his brown eyes to him and smiled in return while opening his arms.

Kevin didn't turn down the hug and said, "I'm glad you came."

"Well, you made it sound so urgent." The man, his uncle Gerard Lesner said—his mother's older brother.

"It is uncle which is why I'm afraid I will have to get to it straight," Kevin said while sitting beside his uncle.

Gerard nodded and said, "Good because I also have to be at the government meeting, and I will be late if we decide to catch up."

"Uncle I need you to find someone for me. Samuel Green." Gerard couldn't understand why his nephew was asking for him, so he asked, "Why are you looking for him?"

Kevin, replied with gritted teeth which Gerard didn't fail to miss, "Personal business."

There was pure anger in Kevin's voice, so Gerard didn't follow up. He simply nodded at Kevin's answer.

Kevin calmed down and continued, "The second thing is about the Greens. They are…"

==================

"You're late." Gerard heard a masculine voice the moment he entered a room where there was a circular table with twenty seats around it.

"I had to visit my nephew. It had been a while." Gerard replied to the angry voice without a care in the world.

The voice growled at Gerard's leisure reply but chose to keep quiet. Gerard wasn't someone anyone in the room wanted as an enemy.

Gerard sat down and said, "Let's get on with this."

A woman started speaking, "Our first agenda is about the special class. We have decided to cancel the explorations for this year and go straight with the expedition."

Gerard looked at everyone else in the room. They had already decided it among themselves. It was him they were informing.

"No." He spoke simply.

"We have already decided." Another voice in the room said calmly.

"I don't care. Stick with exploration this month. Do the expedition next month." Gerard simply responded.

"Why?" Noah asked.

"I am not entitled to answer. The border is under my jurisdiction, and I decide what goes on there." Gerard stubbornly replied.

"We are all high authorities of the government. You have to do what the majority decides." A man angrily spoke.

"It's either this or I withdraw my forces from the border, and you can deal with the aftermath yourself." Gerard lazily replied, unfazed at the angry voice.

Everyone in the room was unresponsive. They had no reply. None in the room had the courage to. Even Noah was careful when it came to Gerard. Gerard was crazier than his father and the old man was a menace for them. They dare not imagine what Gerard could do.

"They are our successors. They need experience." Marcel, Kevin's father replied. Probably the only one in the room who could.

"Then teach them yourselves so they can learn faster. They are not going and that is final." Gerard didn't even consider Marcel's reason let alone debate on it.

"Very well. What's next?" Marcel spoke. The rest of the people could only shake their heads as Marcel was the only one who could go against Gerard. If even he had given up, there was nothing they could do.

"It's actually about Gerard. The Lesner clan didn't send a successor in the special class this year." The female who had spoken earlier stated the next agenda.

Gerard sighed at this point. He didn't send a successor because there was none.

'Let's hope you are right about this one Kevin.' He thought inwardly and said, "I have."

"Kevin is the successor of the Derek family. Whether he will succeed or not is a different story. You can't name him your successor." Marcel spoke the moment he heard Gerard's reply.

He knew about Kevin's and Gerard's relationship. Kevin would do whatever Gerard would ask him to. Just like Gerard would do whatever his sister used to ask him. Whether it was an ice cream or wage wars with the families.

Gerard had done what she had asked without question. He knew the only reason Gerard hadn't waged a war with Derek's family was because of Kevin, otherwise, there was nothing stopping him.

"I know that." Gerard waved his hand and said, "It's the other one. I have quite liked the potential shown by Elizabeth."

Marcel's expression changed to uninterested while on the table on the other side, a scowl appeared on a woman's face.

"What is it Green? You got a problem?" Gerard asked turning to the woman, Javeria Green who was looking at him like she would swallow him whole the next moment.

Everyone on the table knew what the Green family was trying to do. But now that Gerard had gotten involved, things have changed.

They couldn't be aggressive anymore. Marcel was strong but he was rational. He wouldn't risk a war with the Green family even with Elizabeth's talent. But Gerard was the opposite of Marcel.

"You will regret this," Javeria replied in return, her scowl remained the same.

Gerard chuckled and said, "What's next?"

The female who was recounting the issues continued despite the heavy atmosphere.

"The third agenda is this," She said, signaling Gerard who threw a blue-colored crystal at her, "Gerard and his team finally managed to hunt one. The energy inside it is greater than the others but we cannot convert the energy for our own use. We have to decide on a research team."

"Whoever is on that team, I want Kevin on that team as well. He's smart. I have no doubt he will prove to be immensely helpful." Gerard said before there was any debate.

"Agreed," Marcel said next. The others on the table had no objection so this matter was decided. They discussed a few more matters before the meeting came to an end.

"I did what you said. I have put you on that team." Gerard called Kevin on the phone and informed him.

Kevin on the other hand smiled. Earlier when his uncle had shown him the crystal, his system had reacted to it.

[A mana crystal has been detected]

[The mana crystal is not compatible with the user]

[Would you like to sell it in the shop]

[Yes\No]

[Alternative]

[Purchase skill Craft from the shop]

[Skill: Craft LV1 (Higher level available at the shop. Must have mastered lower levels completely)

Cost: 1000 GC

[Using materials, the user can create various crafts]

[Grade of the produced craft will vary on several factors]

Kevin smiled when he read all the notifications. He had just found a way to make gold coins and extort the government as well.

Although he was curious about the origin of the crystal, his uncle said that he would come to know about it by the end of the month.
