The main character is focused on becoming strong, but he has family and friends that he wants to protect as well.
The main character has a dark past and has to grapple with it throughout the story. The mana and Magic of the world has a lot to do with emotions.

Surviving An Apocalypse

<p>I reached the edge of the purple shield, and I projected the Divinity within my Soul space outwards, through my Mech and top the shield. I fired one at first, but it just made the shield dim slightly. I fired another, and another, and another… The shield grew very very dim, but all of my Divinity was gone save for one, which if used would kill me.</p>

<p> Behind me Susan, Zane, Tim, Jett, Jason, Tessa, Will, John, Anne, Belle, Riley, and even Achilles himself barely reached the height that I had before firing off their own Divinities. Altogether, they fired off twelve more Divinity, and the shield above shattered completely. </p>
