Surviving An Apocalypse

I had just plopped down on a beautiful beach on my second planet. Susan sat down next to me, and Tim and Evelyn were racing each other down the beach.

I smiled at Susan. "You know, this will be the first little break I've taken in quite some time…"

"Yeah I'm sure that it is. You have been quite busy getting all of those souls running through the tower, but aren't you worried that some could make it through while you are gone?"

I coughed. "No. I don't care. I need a break."

I sighed slowly and looked out to the crystal clear waves as they rose and fell against the beach in a soothing sort of sound that seemed to calm my mind.

As I was looking at the water, a pink portal opened in front of me. In that instant I knew, just by the color, that my vacation had ended before it had even gone full swing. 'I'm so going to kill them all.'
