Not A Puppet

Alone in Ruby's bedroom after their friends had left, Stefan looked at Ruby and raised a brow when he saw the frown on her face like she was thinking about something seriously.

"A dollar for your thoughts," Stefan said, snapping his fingers in front of her, and she blinked as she focused her gaze on him.

She had been thinking about what had happened at the dining and if their friends had noticed any change between her and Stefan. She believed they must have noticed it since nothing easily went past them.

"Do you think they suspected something?" she asked, and Stefan frowned.

"Who suspected what?"

"Melvin and Nathan. About us. The way you were feeding me and stuff. They are not stupid, you know? They could have sensed that something is up," she said, and Stefan nodded.

"Maybe. Maybe not. Even if I wasn't in love with you, I would have spoon-fed you," he said, and she hit his arm.

"Quit saying that so casually."
