Sarah's POV:
I left the hotel and went home instead, knowing that Elma was a psycho. How could she jump on me like I was some enemy?
The driver parked the car in the parking lot of the mansion, and I walked in. When I got to the sitting room, I spotted Kim sleeping on the sofa. Didn't she go to school?
"Kim," I called, but she didn't react.
"Kim" I walked closer and held her hand; that's when I noticed she was burning.
"Oh my…" She has a fever. She opened her eyes and looked at me.
"My head hurts," she whispered, and I nodded.
"Bernadette," I called a few times before the maid rushed towards me.
"Please call back the driver; we will take Kim to the hospital."
"No, I don't want to go to the hospital," Kim added, and I sighed. She was burning with a fever.
"Please get some cold water and a cloth to her bedroom," I ordered the maid, who nodded before leaving.
Then I held Kim's hand and helped her stand up. "Let's walk to your bedroom," I said, and we both walked to her bedroom. The room was beautiful and had a lot of blue furniture.
Girls her age mostly prefer pink, but here she was in a blue room. "It's your first time in my room," Kim chuckled lightly, and I cleared my throat before placing her on the bed and covering her body with the duvet.
"I will get the water." Bernadette was wasting time, so I walked out of the room before bumping into her. "Here it is," she said, and I took the basin of cold water and a towel before going back to Kim's room.
I realized she had fallen asleep, and then her phone rang, but I ignored it and pressed the towel, which I placed on her forehead.
The phone kept ringing. I sighed, took out the phone from her pocket, and checked the caller. "Mine?" I was shocked to see the way she saved someone's contact with lots of love emojis.
"Kim," I called, but she pouted. Well, I will pick up the call and let the person know she is sick.
The call got connected, and I placed it by my ear. "I am beside the gate; you should come quickly before your dad shows up," a male voice said. I was confused and dropped the call.
Immediately after the call dropped, what I could see on her screen were their messages. I didn't mean to read it, but seeing the text in which he said, "Are you having a temperature because of the drugs?" made me scared.
I dropped her phone before going downstairs and to the gate. I pushed the gate open and spotted that same motorcycle man, and he was so focused on his phone that he didn't even notice me approaching.
I stood close to him before folding my arms. "Who are you?" I questioned him, and he looked shocked to see me. He quickly walked down the bike and took off his gloves.
"Good day, Mrs. Wistold," he said in a rather respectful tone, and I frowned.
"What drugs did you give to Kim?"
"Drugs?" he asked, and I took out my phone.
"I will call the cops right now if you don't answer my question."
"I didn't give her any drugs."
"I saw the messages." I was so sure of what I saw, and he couldn't fool me; it was very obvious from his looks that he was bad news.
"Kelvin right?" I suddenly realized it was his birthday today, and Kim was absolutely fine this morning, so how did she come back with such a temperature?
"Yes ma'am"
"What did you give to Kim? If you don't answer, then I will call the cops on you." I threatened, and he rubbed his palms.
"Okay, I did give her some drugs."
"How could you give her..."
"No, not harmful drugs. I mean medicated drugs," he chimed in, and I was confused.
"Please don't tell her dad this; she didn't go to school this morning... Instead, she came at my base," he explained, and my mouth widened in disbelief.
"Then she got a headache after yelling about how much she hated her mom and just couldn't wait for the divorce, so I rushed to the pharmacy and got her some drugs for the headache before dropping her back home," Kelvin explained with sincerity in his tone.
I was wondering if I to trust him or not. First, he was in the wrong for letting Kim skip school and come to his base. And what were they even doing there? I didn't even want to imagine that far.
"What did you give her?"
"I just discovered it was expired, or probably not well stored." He tried explaining himself, but I sighed.
"What's the name of the drug you gave her?"
"Tylenol," he answered. Tylenol was a normal headache pill, so it couldn't give her a fever, or maybe it expired, as he said.
"You are not medical personnel; don't prescribe drugs to someone else again," I warned, and he nodded.
"And how old are you? Do you think it's appropriate to park your bike by the side like a thief?"
"I am sorry, ma'am. I am... um, I am twenty-four."
"What???" When he was twenty-four and Kim was sixteen, what type of relationship did he even intend to share with Kim?
"You are older than her; mingle with people your age."
"But I love her."
"You love her? You let her leave school and come to your base; only God knows what you were both doing there."
"I am sorry," he apologized, and I sighed heavily.
That's when I noticed Anthony's car driving closer; shouldn't he be at the office now?
"Kelvin, I understand love is a strong feeling. But Kim is young; her education is very important at this point. So if you love her, then let her focus on her studies; if today she is absent from school to be with you, then what about tomorrow?" I asked, and he looked down nervously.
"Just leave her," I added, and saying this made me feel bad; it's like I was a villain in their love story.
"You should leave before Anthony sees you."
"You are so kind, ma'am; please be kind to Kim. She loves you a lot," he said, getting on his bike before putting on his helmet. He was about to drive away when I held his shoulder.
"Did Kim tell you that she loves her mom?" I asked, and he shook his head in denial.
I realized my hand was on his shoulder, so I retracted it before giving him space to leave.
"Well done, Mrs. Wistold. Now get in and take care of your daughter," Anthony said angrily from his car before he drove in. What a jerk he is.
