"Just who are you??" Amara finally questioned, gathering up her courage, "It's you who sent me this, right??" she asked holding up the box, "And this necklace?!" her fingers holding the pendant.
"And the one....at the wedding event?"
So many questions, all at once, oh how confused was she.
However, she didn't care, a feeling like he held the answers for all of her questions, strengthening by every passing second.
Zamiel nodded with a smile, "Yes, did you like it?"
Amara remained silent.
"The necklace, I meant!" Zamiel chuckled as he looked away, watching the trees sway in gentle breeze.
Zamiel smiled softly, his eyes shimmering with warmth. "I understand your confusion, Amara. I am someone who has been watching over you, guiding you when needed. You can think of me as a guardian of sorts."
Amara's brows furrowed in confusion. "But why me? What do you want from me?"
Zamiel's smile widened as he looked back at her. "I want nothing from you, Amara. My role is to ensure that you find what you're looking for, to guide you on your path. You have a purpose, and I'm here to help you fulfill it."
Amara pondered his words for a moment, feeling a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. "But why all the secrecy? Why not just tell me everything?"
Zamiel's expression turned solemn. "There are forces at play that you may not yet understand. Sometimes, it's better to reveal things gradually, for your own safety and understanding."
Amara nodded slowly, absorbing his words. "So, what now? What am I supposed to do?"
Zamiel with a deep breath, stood, reaching out and gently taking her hand.
Amara who was taken aback by his sudden act, gasped low, feeling strange about the touch, just like she did when he pulled her. Her eyes searching the unknown in his, in silence.
"For now, trust in yourself and follow your instincts. The answers will reveal themselves in due time."
Amara nodded slowly, "Are you...a magician?!" she asked doubtfully.
Zamiel chuckled with a laugh, "Why would I be?!"
"In no other way can I digest your sudden appearance and disappearance." Amara hesitatingly said, hoping at least now would he say who he is.
He nodded to himself looking away briefly, "If I indeed say you, would you believe it?!"
Amara took a pause, believe? "I...guess I have no other options!" she said sincerely considering how everything was so unbelievable.
He looked at her in silence that assisted the mystery he was, his gaze completely undefined for her, "If that is what you wish!"
He took a brief pause before letting it out, "I'm an immortal!"
Her breath took a halt, imm...what? How can...
"It's beyond your knowledge at present, Amara. However, I believe you will be able to get with this all soon."
Her breath became heavy as though she was already failing to digest it.
Zamiel's other free hand reached for her chin, his fingers touch a delicate caress against her soft skin.
"You are wishing for something unbelievable, so should you expect the same in return!!" He said looking straight into her eyes. "Your steps from now would be a challenge for the time and fate, it would only try to fail you!!"
Amara suddenly felt anticipated again. A gentle squeeze at her hand which he still held, somehow calmed her.
"Either you win, or lose!!"
She breathed.
"But remember to...take care of yourself. For fate would not mind eliminating it's trouble!!"
Amara nodded like a child, a sense of fear embracing her.
Guardian!
"You....would help me?!" She asked hopefully, completely ignorant to the fact that he still, was a stranger.
Zamiel softly smiled, "Always!!"
"How would I then...know about your presence?!" She asked curious.
He comes and goes as he wishes, and, really startles her!
Zamiel chuckled, his hand that held her chin retreating itself, and within a second, a bracelet magically appeared in his hand, surprising her.
Amara gasped, just what else can this man do??
Zamiel with a widened smile, looked at her with a brow slightly raised, as if asking for permission.
Amara though remained silent, her hand in his hand, unmoved, meant her acceptance.
Zamiel so gently helped her wear the bracelet, that adorned her skin in a unique way.
Amara secretly appreciated the bracelet as her fingers traced it's carving, a simple chain with three other small chains hanging down it, with the unique ends of two being tiny stars while one with a tiny butterfly. The design of butterfly again enchanting her.
Perhaps, he really liked butterflies.
Zamiel smiled, "From now on, it acts as a way of communication between us, whenever I'm around you, it will let you know!!"
Amara looked up amazed.
"Do you like it?!" He asked noticing her bright smile.
She couldn't help but nod, "A lot!"
He nodded, "I'll take a leave now, goodnight?"
A sudden wave of worry washed over her, as though fearing he would disappear again, she squeezed his hand gently.
Zamiel's brows furrowed slightly, as though questioning her what is it.
She stayed silent for moments and he waited patiently.
After a brief silence, and a constant stare, Amara whispered her question, "Why... did you smile, that night?!"
Zamiel watched her as though she asked something unexpected, an unknown feeling swirling in his eyes. He briefly looked down at her hand that he still held before looking back at her.
Amara's eyes widened at the sight, his eyes suddenly glowing in gold with warmth.
Zamiel smiled, "You were beautiful!!" he whispered.
Her heart skipped a beat strangely.
And just with that, he began to fade away into the night, his form dissipating like mist. Amara watched in awe, feeling amused.
As Zamiel vanished completely, she was left alone on the balcony, the night sky stretching out above her. She took a deep breath, feeling a strange mixture of uncertainty and determination coursing through her veins. A newfound sense of purpose stirring within her
With a resolve in her heart, Amara whispered to herself, "I will find out who you are, Zamiel, and why you've chosen me."
************
Amara couldn't see what's going on around her, darkness surrounding everywhere! Suddenly, a little beam of light welcomed her, exposing two persons standing at the beginning of the light, facing towards each other with a decent distance!
She couldn't see their faces yet as except them, everything was a veil of darkness!
She could only see their bodies and shadows but not faces!
One person was holding his hands backwards while the another stood stiff!
"I hope you now know what to do!" The man who stood as though holding the superiority in the conversation, spoke.
There was a momentary silence, before the other man spoke, somehow reluctantly, "I can't do this! Whatever I did till today was what you told! But they weren't like what you are telling me to do now! I ...I just can't do this!"
"But why?!"
The man remained silent.
"Do you think you can go against with me?" He asked with a dominance which made even Amara think that he was threatening the man.
"You know I can't!" The man said as though he has no other option left.
"Did you forget what I did to you?"
"I remember!" The man said it with a sigh, a momentary pause escaping from him as though the man was remembering something from the past.
"I do... remember! I know that I owe you a lot, and that's why I did what you told me to, for years, but.....I can't do this! I can't even dare to think of doing such a thing!"
The man turned away, "It's against my values!!" the man whispered to himself.
"Values?" He laughed, "What are you talking about and in front of whom?" he shook his head as though he heard a very lame joke, "Did you somehow take it as my request?!"
He laughed again, "If you indeed had, then you should realise!!" his voice menacing, "It isn't a request but an order!!"
"Let me remind you, I have your word!!"
"Do not forget what am I capable of!!" He threatened!
Amara couldn't understand what was happening, and what did her presence here even mean?! What are they talking about?!
The man with a sigh nodded, "I surrender!!"
He smiled, "I know you would, make sure you make no mistakes!!" he warned.
The man just nodded again, "I will just make it look like a real one! A real accident!"
"Accident...??!" Amara screamed, however, those two were just standing like they didn't even hear her!
"Good!!" He appreciated the man, chuckling at his still reluctance.
However, Amara couldn't shake off the fear she was feeling by all this conversation she was witnessing!!
Suddenly the light began to extend, having its rays reach every corner, until it reached her!
The strong beam of light, blurring her vision, her eyes getting heavy, her head burdening with pain.
************
Amara shot her eyes open with a gasp, her heart pumping faster than ever, her body sweating!
Was it a dream again?!
But.....a weird one!!
Why did she have that strange dream?!
'I will just make it look like a real one! A real accident!'
What and....which accident??
Who were they both??!
Her mind raced with different questions, her hand instantly reaching to clear her sweat filled face, and in process, her focus being grabbed by the bracelet she wore.
Amara kept staring the bracelet and slowly her heart beat steadied, "Zamiel!" she whispered unintentionally.
Within a moment, a voice reached her, "Good morning!!"
Amara screamed startled, her hands holding the bedsheet tight, as she struggled for air again.
She watched Zamiel who seemed to appear out of blue again, nonchalantly taking his seat, settling into the sofa beside her book shelf.
She stared him in silence, as her heavy breath began to slowly steady. Her heart suddenly feeling calm as she watched him.
"Why....are you here?!" Amara then managed to ask.
