"Why....are you here?!" Amara then managed to ask, her voice low.
Zamiel raised his right hand showcasing the bracelet he wore, which was in someway similar to her, except it being thickly designed with stones of green and yellow, the carvings, again were unique. "You summoned me." He simply said.
Her eyes widened, "Me??" she asked with a frown.
Zamiel nodded, soon a green shimmering thread began to extend from his bracelet to hers', surprising her. "I said you, it's a way how we can communicate."
Amara, however, felt dumbstruck, she just mistakenly took his name, she didn't ... summon him!! She defended herself inwardly.
Zamiel took a deep breath, "It makes me sense you, let's me know if you are not alright! So, what is wrong?! You seemed to be troubled?"
Amara didn't know what to say, her words long ago submerged in the ocean of silence. "I just was....panicked by a dream!" She tried to explain.
Zamiel became thoughtful, "What dream?"
She measured her own thoughts on whether to say it to him or not, and eventually deciding to do it, "About two people and their random conversation of one forcing the other to do..... something against his values." she tried to put it in simple, not only for him but for her as well.
Zamiel though looked unmoved by it, his thoughts were racing, "Against the values... like?!"
Amara hesitated, "An..... accident!!"
Zamiel was taken aback, "Anything more?!"
Amara shook her head, "It's just a dream!!" she said more to herself.
Zamiel with a sigh shifted in his seat, "Dreams are no coincidence, Amara."
She stared him in silence, his words making her recall the dream she had before this all happened, her parents in the paradise, and after the dream....she sighed, perhaps he was right, she cannot believe in coincidence anymore now. Amara gave him a slight nod.
Zamiel smiled.
Amara looked down at her hand, her bracelet glowing in green, realising the thread has now vanished from view, however, she knew, it remained. Somehow feeling ....strange. "So, I can summon you?!"
Zamiel shook his head, "We can feel each other. Even you can know about me, but you can't as of now."
"Why?" Amara questioned with a frown.
Zamiel smiled, "You don't have any power to do so yet, Amara!" he simply stated the fact.
Amara, frowned, not yet? As of now?! What was he even speaking about.
Zamiel cleared his voice, "Well the bracelets have a name."
Amara was taken aback, wondering, "And the name?!"
He smiled, "Crystal!"
Amara smiled, liking it, "What a name for bracelets!!"
He smiled looking down at his hands, "It was my wife who gave a name for them.", a faint smile taking over his lips.
Amara's heart skipped a beat, as she looked up at him, something unknown suddenly settling in her heart, "Wife?!" she asked doubtful.
Zamiel looked up at her, giving a nod.
She remained silent, not knowing what to say. So he has a wife!
Amara sighed, why did he present her something related to him and his wife??
She didn't like it! "Wouldn't she mind if this is with me?!"
Zamiel shook his head, "She is no more, to feel so!"
That shocked her, her words feeling at halt. What did he mean by no more, she's.... dead?!
Even if yes.... why did he give this to her?! Didn't this mean a special bond between them?
Perhaps....this was how they communicated.
She sighed hard, "Then why did you give me this??", she asked somehow frustrated.
Zamiel looked at her in silence, taking a brief pause, "Everything reaches to where it belongs, Amara."
Amara couldn't comprehend what he said, belongs?! What was he implying to say exactly? Why was she even stressing over this, it wasn't her who asked for it, it was him who gave it to her, why was she even bothering?? "I'm getting late for my morning routine." She said instead.
Zamiel chuckled, "Are you asking me to get out?!"
Amara hesitatingly looked away, Zamiel with a smile stood, "Let us meet later then, and, I'll take care of not to startle you from the next time!!" he said softly.
Amara with a sigh looked back, to at least wish him good morning, as she didn't when he did, however, as she did, he was already gone.
This man!
Sorry, immortal!!
With a sigh again, she got up, deciding to fresh up. However, her focus was still the bracelet. So, if she has the power, she can feel him as well?!
Shaking her head she pushed the thought away, thinking it as something silly. She can never do that, then. As she reached the bathroom, about to hold the knob, her eyes widened suddenly. She immediately took off her bracelet, deciding not to wear it at least in the bath.
The immortal is unpredictable!!
************
Amara soon got ready, getting down the stairs, surprising her parents.
"I thought you were just saying random stuff, seems like you're serious!" Her mother said with an appreciating nod.
Amara just smiled.
"We were about to call you, come let's have breakfast!" Her father called her softly.
She then joined them for the meal, before leaving the house. She drove to Sion today as well, and as she went in after parking the car, she was surprised by the warm welcome she received from the management. Them giving her flower bouquets, wishing all best of luck for the work, expressing their happiness on her arrival.
Amara couldn't help but smile, feeling happy. So, this is how it would have felt, being welcomed. With her parents!
Only if not for taking the management operations in the unavoidable situation after the accident, perhaps, she would have been welcomed the same way, if she had began working here as a doctor after her graduation.
Harry patted her on the shoulder while Isobel caressed her hair as Amara kept smiling, "Thank you all for the warm welcome, it means a lot!!" she thanked them with a slight bow.
Despite them knowing her, she gave a proper introduction of herself, being formal.
Everyone applauded for her.
Amara felt good, better, and glad, wholeheartedly, after a very long time.
Later, Harry went to his own cabin while Amara followed her mother to her cabin, observing the way she works; diagnoses, prescribes and treats patients, assisting her when needed.
Oh, how badly did she wanted this to happen?!
After sometime she went to her father's cabin, however noticing him being busy, discussing about the upcoming operations with some doctors, Amara decided to take checking rounds, not wanting to interrupt her father. She went to each and every floor to know about the patients, interacting with them and getting to know about their opinions, enquiring if they had any problems, just like how she used to do when she got day off's on Sundays while she was working as a reporter after her parents death.
She was glad to know that their replies were all positive.
Amara then went to talk with some experienced doctors so that she can know if there were any problems related to their work or any facilities.
Later, she went to canteen to check on food, she checked the quality, and it was good.
Slowly time passed and it was noon already. Amara and her parents had lunch in the canteen with all the other staff. After having lunch, Isobel and Harry went to their own cabins and continued their work, while Amara again made some rounds and enquired if each patient got to eat or not.
After, she went back to the 2nd floor, to her mother's cabin.
However, her steps halted when she noticed the presence of a person who was looking at her mother through the window. Wearing a black coloured dress, hat, shoes and mask, everything matching with that driver she had seen in the paper, and this, panicked her.
Amara began rushing towards him, a shout escaping her which alerted him. As soon as he saw her coming towards him, he rushed away.
"Stop right there!!" Amara screamed while trying to catch him. However the man didn't even put an effort to look back and just kept running away.
Amara not wanting to lose him, tried to keep up with her breath which constantly was troubled by the run.
However the man had a speed unmatched with her eyes, yet she didn't accept defeat.
The man didn't even make an effort to descend the stairs, he just had began jumping down through the space between the stairs, with the help of the poles, making it seems so easy.
How more flexible can this man be?!
This panicked her even more.
Amara knew she couldn't keep up with him, hence used elevator, reaching the ground floor.
When she did, she saw him running towards the parking cellular.
Amara rushed, trying to catch him in time, however, the man was quick enough to get his car started.
Though she was quick enough to take a picture of his car, she was late enough to lose him.
Amara couldn't help but watch his car rolling away helpless, a scream out of frustration escaping her.
With no other way, she went to the security room, asking the guard to stay out for sometime, who panicked at her sudden arrival.
Amara started replaying the footage of the camera, of the 2nd floor before she entered the scene.
The person had been observing her mother from a long time, through the window, in hidden. Upon recieving a call, he talked with someone, yet his gaze never leaving her mother. With a nod, he ended the call and that's when she arrived.
Just what was this all?!
With a sigh, she shared the footage to her mobile before deleting it from the system, so not to arise any doubts.
Thanking the security, she left to check on her parents, leaving a confused security guard behind.
A sense of relief washed over her after watching her mother safe, secretly. However, worry soon took over her when the thought of her father striked her.
She rushed to the ground floor, upon reaching her father's cabin, steadying her breath, she knocked twice.
No response.
Her heart pumped faster in fear.
The silence bothered her, the door creaked open when Amara pushed it.
And the absence of her father, even more bothering her. Feeling helpless, she left in search for her father.
