Concerning thoughts took over Amara regarding Zamiel.
Why is his shirt ....blood stained?
Was he hurt?
When?
Where exactly is he?!
With a racing heart, she stepped back only to collide with someone. Turning back tensed, she was both relieved and feared to finally see Zamiel, and not her slipping her leg through the turn.
Amara's heart skipped a beat as Zamiel's arms encircled her waist, preventing her from falling.
She could feel the warmth of his touch, sending shivers down her spine. Their eyes met, and for a moment, everything else faded away.
Zamiel easily pulled her up closer, her hands now resting against his bare wet chest, a low gasp escaping her at the sensation.
"Are you alright?" Zamiel's voice was soft, filled with concern.
Amara nodded, her breath caught in her throat. "I... I'm fine," she managed to whisper.
Zamiel helped her regain her balance, his gaze never leaving hers. There was a tension in the air, a silent understanding between them that words couldn't express.
"I didn't expect to find you here," Zamiel finally broke the silence, his tone gentle.
"I... came to see you," Amara admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
Zamiel's expression softened, a flicker of emotion crossing his features. "I'm sorry for disappearing like that," he said, his voice tinged with regret. "There were things I needed to sort out."
Amara could only nod for that, however, her gaze widened to find his lips wounded, "What...." her words stuck when she looked up only to have her gaze grabbed by the mirror infront of her in distance, exposing a deep scratch over his back, "Oh my god!!" she exclaimed, turning him instantly, checking his wound.
Why didn't she notice it ahead?!
Her hand hesitated to touch it and when she managed to do, he hissed in pain, making her immediately pull back her hand.
"What....happened to you?!" She asked with those slowly forming tears eyes.
Zamiel turned to her, offering a gentle smile as he cupped her face, surprised to find those glimpse of tears!
Amidst of all emotions, feeling a sense of happiness to have her worry about him.
"It's nothing!"
"What do you mean nothing? You are deeply hurt!!" Her voice slightly raised, a tear drop streaming down her left eye.
His smile widened a bit, how adorable does she look this way?! "I have been in a situation where I could not heal! But I'm alright now, I'll heal in no time!!" Zamiel assured.
She shook her head in dissatisfaction, "Where's the medical kit?!"
He stared her for a moment before with a smile, pointing out his finger towards the table beside his bed.
Taking his hand, she grabbed him to the bed, making him sit like a child before she began to treat his wound on the back, her heart feeling a sting with his every hiss of pain.
Having the wound get bandaged, she sat beside him, applying ointment on those small injuries present on his hand, finally coming up to his lips!
Her gaze dared not to reach his eyes, focusing completely on her work, her heart racing feeling his eyes steadily fixed on her.
With a heavy breath, she looked away when it was finally done, but he didn't shift his eyes away.
A moment of silence took over. Amara with a deep breath finally clearing her voice, "No lies tolerated, what exactly happened??"
Zamiel hesitated, measuring the consequences of his admission, in silence. A low sigh escaped, "I was sentenced for a stay in Nether World, for two months!" Zamiel admitted.
Amara blinked her eyes, half way getting it while losing the other.
Nether world?
Sentenced?
For....two months??
He was away only for one week, wasn't he?!
And....for what?!
What ...
"Hush.....!" Zamiel hused her with his finger pressing on her lips in gentle, "That's too much of a thinking! Relax!!" he whispered!
Amara remained silent, yet he could feel the confusion in the eyes, a sense of curiosity mixed with concern evident in her gaze that searched his!
His hand moved up, adjusting her hair as he explained, "Time differs in Nether World from here!!" he smiled.
However she didn't reciprocate the smile, all of a sudden recalling what Ralph said about the miracle.
May be....he was right.
Everything sure comes with a....price?!
"It was ...because of me! Right?!"
Zamiel gave a shook, "I would hate to have you blame yourself!!"
"It makes me feel helpless, do not do that please!" Zamiel requested.
Amara felt lost at words, such affection towards her and why?!
Her hand raised up, caressing his wounded lip, Zamiel momentarily admiring her touch, his gaze settling back to her as she watched him in silence.
Surprising him, Amara leaned forward, reaching for his ear as she whispered, "I'm confused Zamiel, whether to thank you or apologise you!!"
Zamiel took a pause, recollecting her words, thanks for what? Thanks to him for she recieved a curse?!
And sorry for what?!
A faint smile curved up his lips, a low gasp escaping her when he embraced her single handedly, pulling her closer to him, "Nothing but you, Amara!!" He confessed.
"Just stay!!" Zamiel whispered.
Her heart shifted strangely inward, his words echoing.
Amara inhaled deep, "I will, I promise!" she assured uncertain herself of why she said that, but she felt it to be right! So right! Amara planted a soft kiss on his cheek surprising him, pushing herself slightly away from him, their gaze locked with each other.
In that moment, they were there, lost in each other's gaze, the world outside forgotten. And amidst the uncertainty and chaos, they found solace in each other's presence.
Zamiel gently took her face into his hand, caressing her cheek, "You make me feel better just by being happy! Do not lose this sweet smile of yours, Amara!"
Amara smiled as he wiped her falling tear, however, she was soon distracted by the sudden change in his expression. Her questioning eyes made him look away briefly.
"I think it's time!" He whispered, wondering her.
Zamiel moved away, his hand gesturing in a strange way which she couldn't comprehend.
A gasp escaped her when a huge egg appeared in his hands which he gently placed on the bed.
"What....is this?!" She asked surprised, without looking away from the thing.
Zamiel smiled, "I had to take up the dragon egg in the Nether World, I think it's about to hatch!!"
"Dra... Dragon?!" Amara stuttered, he just provided her an assuring nod, "Do they.... really exist??"
"Just like me!" He smiled.
She chuckled at the unbelievable, just what else more would she witness in this life?!
Her thoughts were ceased when the egg began to crack slowly, slowing down her breath.
With a blend of curiosity and enthusiasm, she watched it break little by little, and an unheard gasp escaped her when a little dragon stepped out of it, almost slipped out of its shell, losing its balance.
Zamiel giggled at the beings' fall, slowly helping it stand, providing support through his finger.
Amara couldn't help but adore it's cute eyes, small wings and yet to be sharp scales, its greenish new skin almost shining.
An urge to adore it by touch arises within her, as if it were a puppy. She held back her urge with a glimpse of fear while Zamiel took it in his arma with no hesitation.
He played with it, giggles escaping him.
For a moment, she adores him. The way how sweet he looks when he does that. Pampering someone?!
A smile took over her.
Zamiel played with its mouth, teasing it, and suddenly it threw out a small burning flame which caught to his index finger. And soon, the being began to cough, still unable to use its powers.
A gasp escaped her, while he with a laugh waved away his hand, the flame of fire disappearing.
She watched him caress it, "It can....throw out fires?!"
He gave a nod, "It belongs to a shape-shifting dragon clan, which are rarely to be witnessed. They sure have their own powers!!"
"Shape-shifting??"
"Yes, they can shift into humans! That's one of their power. I don't how long will it take to transform into a baby though?!"
It all felt surreal for her, finding no response but a nervous nod to provide, "So....will it turn into a human baby? From...dragon baby?!"
"I guess yeah!" Zamiel expressed his uncertainty. He didn't know much about dragons as well.
Zamiel laughed when the being lost control again, finding it hard to cope with its wings, its steps so unstable. "I have never known a dragon baby would turn out to be this adorable!!"
Amara smiled, "Can I.....hold it?!" her voiced request sounding hesitated.
Zamiel nodded a 'Sure', gently letting her take it, a surprising hiss escaping her when she got contacted with its skin, a giggle following out.
Amara tried to touch it little by little, and when she became confident enough that it wouldn't fire back at her and started feeling comfortable, she began to feel ease around it. Touching it with no hesitation, caressing, playing and teasing it.
The being reacting back, sometimes with a shook and the other times with a little groan. Attempting to fight back her which only seemed more adorable.
Zamiel watched her with a smile, a sense of emptiness suddenly taking over his heart.
If not for the end, they would have given birth to an adorable baby, just like this dragon baby, right?
Would she have played with their baby the same way?!
His heart felt heavy, after knowing the truth, would Amara still allow him to be with her? Would he still be....able to see her smile this way?!
"If it turns into a baby, who do you think it will be? He or she?!" Amara asked wondered, looking up at him. Her eyes bright like a sunshine.
Zamiel shrugged, "I don't know, we shall wait and see!"
Amara smiled, "After its transformation, let us name it accordingly!" she said excitedly.
Zamiel offered a soft smile with a nod, "Sure!"
She continued to play with the dragon baby while he watched her, how greedy is the thought of him having an opportunity to struggle naming their baby with his wife, making him feel! The chance to quarrel over names, taking enough time over the choosing and finally deciding to choose one together.
A sigh escaped him, he should feel glad he was at least blessed enough to have this opportunity.
He waited for centuries to see her, and now he can not only see her but also touch her, feel her, admire her! Spend time with her.
Zamiel took a deep breath, taking in the sense of her presence completely, living the moment!!
After centuries, his numb heart finally beating!!
