Chapter 63

Aldin Randell

After breakfast Darvin and I left for runes smiting lessons. We met up with my master.

"Today I will be taking Darvin, another professor will be tutoring you. He will meet you in the next room, so go there and wait." He said and so I did.

I went there and found him waiting for me. I recognized him since he was the referee during the first year and third year matches.

Hello, I am Professor Dave, head professor of wind magic." He introduced himself by saying.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Aldin." I said.

"I've been assigned to take you through runes smiting. The first step you have to master is bringing out your mana, pure mana is out of the question because the moment it gets out it will merge with the pure mana in the air but attributed mana already has an imprint and is solely under your control. So give it a try." He said.

Following his instructions I brought out a strand of mana attributed with water it was blue in color and control it was just as I would water but then it turned to water the next moment.

"Good job, but you have already seen one of its flaws. You have to focus to maintain it in the form of pure mana. Now give it another try." He said.

I did it again the strand was floating in front of me, it was pure mana but out of instinct with a thought it turned to water. I tried it again and again but the result would always come out the same. Till it was noon.

"How about you go rest, we'll continue this after you get back from your lunch break." He said.

I headed out of the room and so Darvin leaving from his class and approached them.

"How was your lesson?" Darvin asked.

"It was great though I just kept on turning it to a spell." I said.

"I know how that feels, to deal with .." Darvin was saying when my master stepped in.

"I believe our dear Aldin should figure out that himself." My master said.

"Oh right." Darvin said scratching his head.

"Okay and I wanted to ask if you could send over a tutor for Mars, he claims to be partially illiterate and If possible I wanted him to learn some combat too."

"Sure. Now go enjoy your lunch." He said as he walked away.

When we got to the mansion I passed on the news to Mars. He was joyed at this and his expression clearly showed it.

After lunch we went back to our classes, Darvin had also refused to tell where I needed to work on and still I had the same problem throughout. I kept on trying to retain it in its mana form but I would eventually slip and Professor Dave also refused to tell me the solution. And at the end of the day I failed completely. I had to head back to the dorm without the slightest clue, it was too upsetting that I went to my room immediately went to my room after taking my dinner and Darvin continued to practice his martial arts meanwhile.

'What could possibly be the solution?' I thought to myself. 'Darvin said it was simple but every time I think of water it turns to water instinctively. It feels just like a spell.' And at that moment the idea came to me.

'If it's just like a spell then why don't I use it like so, I think I can turn it to a spell. All i need to do is master its energy signature and ensure I maintain it that way all through.'

And immediately I got to work and began bring in out the water attributed mana over and over, each time I would get to understand a bit of its signature. I don't even know when I slept but the net morning with huge bags under my eyes. I dragged myself to class. Professor Dave was there waiting for me.

"Are you alright?" was the first thing he asked.

"Yes, I just got carried away practicing last night." I said with a yawn.

"Well I hope you got somewhere." He asked.

"Actually, I was able to solve the issue I was having." I said to which he scratched the back of his which was what I believed the guilty conscious of his for not helping him.

"And what was it?" he asked.

"Simple. I just mastered the feeling of its signature and turned it into a spell." I said to which his mouth fell open and stayed that way for a long time.

"Is there anything wrong?" But he was unresponsive and he stood up, left and came back with my master who kept on sighing even after he sat down.

'Why am I not shocked?" He asked rhetorically.

"What?" I asked confused by the whole situation.

"Well because the normal method would just be too calm down and clear your mind so that controlling it would be easy but you being the kind of student you are were able to take the longest possible route." My master said.

"Well that was the only thing I was able to think of." I said to defend myself.

"We don't blame, what you did has actually made it so that problems you might face in the future are now gone." Professor Dave said.

"What problems?" I asked.

"As you perform rune smiting, you need to focus on both the rune and a mana and with that spell you just got rid of an unnecessary path and gave Darvin more work after he just finished learning rune smiting." My master said

"What?!"I asked out of shock.

"Why do you think I'm here he just finished his course."

"Now I think you should get some rest, you look way too exhausted, when you wake up the ask the guard to come call me, I'll be at my residence." Professor Dave said.
