Chapter 66

Aldin Randell

When I got into the huge room, I found my master and Darvin in there but that was not all, on a huge table in front of me I could see piles of what seemed like, scales bones, claw nails, skin and teeth.

"What is all this?" I asked when I got close to them.

"This is the unique beast you slayed." My master said.

"And why is it here?" I asked.

"Well, due to its unique nature it cannot be sold to our normal buyer and so I am presenting it to you to forge your own armors."

"Isn't this too much." I said.

"Well for others it would be, but not for you." Master said.

"Thank you. I guess." I said.

"I will guide you in making it." Master said.

"But what do we forge?" I asked looking at Darvin who suddenly got shocked.

"What, it's your catch, you should design it." Darvin said.

"And you are like a brother to me, so we both get a set." I said.

"If you say so." Darvin answered.

"With this amount of resources you are able to forge a full set of armor for both of you, and if we add in some metal that would be better."

"And what do we forge exactly?" I asked.

"Well, you would need a chest piece some boot, gauntlets, a head gear and a weapon if need be"

"You don't need to worry about other resources, the academy is willing to provide them to you, right now all you need to focus is on forging the armor." Master continued.

"Then I think we should get to work." I said.

"Hold your horses right there." Master said. "First you need to come up with the designs." He continued and opened the curtain behind him. There were manikins with armor samples on them which would serve as references.

"Look at this one, it looks cool." Darvin said pointing to a blue one that also had green markings.

"This one looks cool to." I said pointing at a black one with white scale patterns. "I love the scale patterns it has."

We looked around and went through all of them, we got plenty of ideas for the designs we would use.

"Here is some iron." Master said. Pulling crates form under the table that were filled with a silvery rock like substance.

"Mixing them in will make it stringer, Darvin, you might face difficulties since this is part of earth attribute." Master said before leaving.

"I think we should use the skin and the scales for the capes." Darvin suggested,

"Good idea, then the claws and some bones together with iron for the gauntlets would be good as well." I said.

"How about the chest piece? It should be the strongest, since it protects the vital organs."

"Sure, then that means more iron there."

"And the boots should be light to enable fast movement."

"Yes, then let's get to work." I said.

We each drew our own designs. I was so in awe with the black armor that I wanted to have scale patterns on it.

I started by forging the right gauntlet. I forged a basic outline of it then put it on, with it in his hand he began alter it till it fit, the exterior though was a mess and I had to alter it as well to get my desired scale like pattern, I had used the bones to form the outlining structure and integrated the iron to it and used claws for nail extension on my gauntlets and thus the right arm of my gauntlet was one with white claws and a white general structure with silvery scale patterns. I did the same for my other arm but when we were done it was already an hour past moonrise. I looked at Darvin's gauntlets, he too had copied the design he liked but the patterns were silver while the general color was white.

We headed back to the mansion for some rest, I for one was exhausted that I skipped dinner and went to bed directly. The next day I paid retribution for skipping dinner since I ate double of what I normally would.

"Do you have any ideas how we can incorporate the patterns in our capes since we are not adding any silver there?" Darvin asked.

"Well, we could add other substances, how about we ask for some more he did offer to help us with any in the case we needed some more."

"Okay, good idea.' Darvin answered.

After breakfast we headed to master's office.

"So you wanted some more material to be able to add in patterns to your armor, what colors would you want?" Master asked.

"I want blue and white." Darvin said.

"And I want black and white." I said.

"Then I will have some pigments sent you way, that will be easier than using more materials." Master said.

We thanked master and left for the work area. After some time we each got bottle of some colored liquids.

I began forging my cape, I used the scales and some skin, and it was easy to bring out the scale pattern since I was using actual scales. I added the pigment and was able to outline it more, I looked better than I would have expected. Next was the chest piece, it took quite some time because I had to condense it a lot and still it also had to be thick, with it on me I made it comfortable and able to fit well, I used the skin for the straps that would intertwine both the front and back plates. The plates were actually outlined by bone and strengthened by iron, I added some scales on top of it for the pattern.

Darvin's cape looked fantastic as well, he had made some great white patterns on his blue overall color and the same pattern was on his chest piece to form a matching set, it was noon when we finished up the two and so we left for our lunch.
