He Never Left

"Ugh—" He spat out a mouthful of blood, clearly the kick had hit hard.

Avery Miller hadn't even had the chance to look behind when a pair of strong arms scooped her up and hoisted her over a shoulder. Just as they leapt from the window, she saw Derek Mason move with lightning speed, flipping over to pick up the handgun he had dropped, and with a long stretch of his leg, he also grabbed Aiden Montgomery's gun, holding both guns above his head as he fled.

In the next second, the scene in the room disappeared from view.

They were staying on the second floor of the motel, not too high, which is why Aiden Montgomery and Ethan Montgomery had been able to climb up so easily.

But jumping down was trickier, especially since Ethan was carrying her on his shoulder, which made it awkward. He lost his footing and slipped slightly.

Avery could clearly hear a pained grunt from his nostrils.
