Chapter 36: The Best Kind of Apology

Normally, working was a great way to distract Junie from her problems. Junie leaned back in her computer chair, allowing her head to drop back against the padded headrest. She absentmindedly stroked the space between Kiara’s pointed ears. The orange cat had settled on her lap. The feline’s rhythmic purring usually soothed her but it just wasn’t enough this time. 

Ever since Junie’s mom flew back to Atlanta, things between her and Kian felt turbulent. They both tried to return to life as normal, going on dates and spending time at each others’ apartments but Junie could feel tension between them, thick like a dense fog in the early morning. 

Junie straightened and continued to edit the video she was working on. Editing was probably her least favorite part of her job but it did take a lot of concentration, so did serve to keep her mind off more unpleasant things.
