Chapter 46: Collecting the Pieces

Junie didn’t know how much time had passed since Kaden left. She was vaguely aware of Kiara’s soft, warm body curling up against her side. She was just wiping the last of her tears away when a timid, but somehow still firm knock sounded through her living room. She twitched but didn’t move from her spot curled up on the floor. She was about to drag herself to her bedroom to escape what had to be a very insistent salesperson when an all-too-familiar voice broke through. 

“Junie? Junie, I’ve been trying to call you for hours. Are you alright?” 

Junie felt her whole body go numb, her ears ringing. She shot up and marched over to the door, yanking it open with so much force that she felt the wind caused by the harsh movement.
