Chapter 48: The Fifth Panelist

Callie had stayed and helped curl her hair and pin some loose strands with shiny, silver-colored barrettes. Callie helped with her make-up as well, adding a light pink blush to her cheeks and some glittery lilac-colored eyeshadow. She had joked about Callie being her slightly evil fairy godmother, but when Callie helped her into the cosplay and she turned toward her full-length mirror, she imagined it was exactly how Cinderella felt after her tattered rags had been transformed into a glittering ball gown. 

As an artist, it was easy for Junie to be critical of the outfits she made. A single misplaced stitch or loose thread often caused Junie to want to throw her hand-made garments into a campfire. Her dark fairy cosplay had come out flawlessly. The soft fabric fell against her in a way that hid the imperfections in her body and brought out what little curves she felt she had. The iridescent plastic made her wings sparkle.
