After a couple of minutes, he went to the living room where his mother was watching her usual TV series.
"You're up, lunch is on the table," she said with a smile.
"Wave?" He asked softly.
"What about her? She quit drawing and is somewhere looking for a job," she explained.
He uttered a soft ooh before walking to the dining room.
"I'm going to the hospital, I'll be back a bit late so don't wait for me today," Way said after having his meal.
"Okay, take care of yourself, and don't forget to bring your key with you,"
"Mmmh, I'm off now," he replied.
"Wait, don't you have at least two hours before your shift starts?" She checked the time and then said.
"I do, I'm meeting up with a friend first," after saying that, Way walked away.
Way walked into the café and then sat down after ordering his usual coffee. He had a night shift so this was his way of maintaining his composure. He took out his phone and then scrolled down his social media account but something suddenly caught his eye. It was Wave's webtoon.
"Didn't she quit writing?" He murmured softly as he stared at the new updated chapter. He casually glanced paying no attention to it and then scrolled away.
After an hour and a half, Way walked out of the café with his friend and then went straight to work. He changed into his usual work outfits and then began his rounds led by his Director.
"Are you okay? You look so haggard didn't you rest up before coming?" Way's colleague stared at him before asking worriedly.
"I did, but it still felt like I didn't ah, you won't understand let's just start our rounds," Way sighed before concluding his talk. He couldn't explain why his dream felt so real but was still a dream. He threw his thoughts aside before following the Director inside the VIP wards. As soon as he walked into the room, he realized the atmosphere had totally changed. He looked around and noticed something unusual. It was night time but in the room that he had opened, it felt like it was just daytime.
"What is happening?" He questioned no one in particular as he looked around the room anxiously.
"Where am I?" He stared at the patient lying on the bed and then walked towards him.
"Isn't he the man from earlier? The man that I saved? Why am I here?" He was utterly confused by everything.
Before he could get his answer, he was suddenly tapped on his shoulders. He jumped in fear and then slightly yelled.
"Are you okay? The Director called you," he heard his colleague's voice next to him.
"Ooh, Director you called?" Way quickly responded.
"What is wrong with you? Why are you zoning out?" He raised his voice slightly.
"Aah, I'm sorry," Way replied.
"Check his temperature," the director ordered.
"Aah, yes," he quickly answered and then walked toward the patient.
After an hour, they had successfully completed their rounds. Way sighed heavily as he collapsed on his seat.
"You seem so tired jeez, have you been overworking yourself?" His colleague asked.
"I don't know, I wish I knew the answer to that I feel so tired I'll take a short nap," Way yawned and then collapsed on top of the table.
"Did he get himself a girlfriend already? Why is he so tired," his colleague murmured as she glanced at Way.
"Way, you have to see this, wake up," she tapped Way after a few minutes into sleeping.
"Can't it wait," he mumbled.
"It's about your sister, isn't this her webtoon? It's getting popular," she added. Way immediately woke up and then glanced at her phone. He scrolled through it for a few seconds and then he picked up his phone ready to call her sister.
"Wait, this looks like you even the name is yours did your sister decide to add you as a character?" His colleague added.
"That's not just a character, that's me," Way uttered in disbelief.
"What are you talking about?"
"Layla, do you remember what I told you earlier? About the dream that felt real? It really happened I wasn't sure until now but how?" He was flabbergasted and couldn't explain it.
Layla was his close friend ever since they were in high school so she knew all about Wave's trashy webtoon.
"But didn't you tell me your sister just ended the webtoon? How come you got dragged in?" Layla asked.
"I don't know,"
After a few seconds, Wave picked up the call.
"Hello? Where are you?" Way immediately spoke.
"Why do you care?" Wave replied.
"Just answer me, can you come to the hospital, we need to talk," he said calmly.
"No," Wave replied stubbornly.
"It's urgent,"
"Can't it wait?" She asked again.
"No, it can't it's about your book," Way continued.
"Fine, I'll pass by after work,"
"Give me a call when you get here," Way hung up the call after saying that.
Way stared into space as he tried to think about everything that had happened since morning. Everything happened so fast as he tried to put two and two together. Layla stared at him in silence as he let him think things through. She knew his silence meant something so she wanted to give him as much time as possible. After a few minutes, Layla spoke breaking the silence.
"What have you come up with?" Immediately Way heard that, he stared deep into Layla's eyes before speaking.
