Chapter Seven

Hours later, my eyes watch as blood drips down Ivana's lip. This was no creature that she killed, it was a poor defenseless girl in the store just outside of Sandy Shores. I tried to swallow down the feelings that swirled around in my stomach. Am I going to stand by and watch that? I know that killing humans is wrong, that's technically murder where I come from.

Ivana puts her head back and groans in satisfaction. Her eyes changed to a deep red. Normally when she kills an animal or a creature, her eyes just get a tint of red. It was clear that this human blood was more powerful than the others.

She walks over towards me and flips her green hair to the side. Even with the blood on her face, she was still beautiful, like I was under some type of spell.

She brings her lips to mine, and I can taste the metallic in my mouth of the blood she just drank. That doesn't stop me from kissing her.

She wraps her arms around my neck after our lips pull away.

"You don't ever feel bad for the life you just ended?"

She looks down for a moment. "Let's not play counselor Smoke."

"I'm serious." I look into her eyes, looking for remorse.

"We are both monsters, you and me, and you can deny it all you want, and it doesn't change the fact."

"Your actions don't have to reflect what you are."

She smiles, and I feel a cold hand on my chin.

"You're such a sweetie, Smoke, but I'm a vampire and I'm not going to live in agony."

I nod.

We walk out of the store hand in hand, and in my mind, I try to replace the truth that this was just a shopping trip. A shopping trip to get M&Ms held in my hands. Though this was technically theft. I became a murderer and a thief all in one day.

The night sky replaces daylight, which feels like in a matter of moments. I have often spent my whole entire life lost. In the orphanage and group homes. And I found myself in a deeper hole after I was released. I didn't accomplish anything I thought I would. And now I feel lost in this Forest. If I am destined to be here, am I going to let it change who I am and my morals?"

"What are you thinking about?" Ivana asks, taking a seat next to me as my back is sitting up against a tree.

"Where I belong."

A smile appears on her face. "And have you figured it out?"

I shake my head.

Feeling her cold hand on my thigh, I know she feels the need to comfort me.

I lay my head on her shoulder.

"Sometimes we just don't belong anywhere."

I look into her eyes, which were now back to golden brown.

"Have you never met another vampire?"

"Nope, that's always been okay with me."

I look down at her pale white hands. I spent so much time thinking that I would spend the rest of my life with Allie, and now it looks like I will be with this vampire.

"But I did find a werewolf."

I chuckle. "Oh yeah, tell me about him."

"He's very handsome, stubborn, and muscular," she whispers in my ear.

"Sounds like a total catch."

I love her giggles.

Days upon days, and so many days went by, I don't even know the correct number anymore. I watched this vampire girl kill many creatures and more humans, and I didn't do anything to interfere. Though this was mentally draining, my relationship with her was more demanding and intense than ever. The sex was completely unbelievable and was never-ending. We have sex two or three times a day. Ivana completely fulfills my sexual drive and at the same time destroys every moral I developed as a person.
