Chapter 21

Damien was still trying to figure out what was going on when one of the sales representatives walked up to him.

She looked at Damien, disgusted, before she pointed at Doris.

“That Lady over there damaged one of our bags; she couldn't provide the money, so we are holding you responsible for it. You are going to work as a cleaner until you complete the payment.”

Damien bit his lips; he was angry. Doris called him out here for this.

The sales representative continues

“since you are willing to work. You will start work immediately.”

She directed Damien to the cleaners staff room to charge his clothes.

“Go change your clothes; your work starts immediately.”

Damien glares at her; he must control his anger before he smacks somebody to the ground unknowingly. He walks straight up to Doris.

“You called me out here for this.”

Damien's eyes were deadly, and Doris doesn't have much cash to pay for the damage. Since Sir Bernard dismissed Megan from the family company, they lost their monthly income and other benefits. With the little she had, she managed to keep up her high-status life. Now she has no money.

Doris eyebrows pushed down; she wouldn't allow Damien to speak to her rudely in front of her friends.

“Bastard!! How dare you speak to me in such a manner?”

Doris friends looked at Damien disgusted; they wondered why Sir Bernard allowed a goddess like Megan to get married to a piece of trash.

Doris could see the disappointment in their eyes. She yelled at Damien.

“Aren't you the one that was kneeling, begging me to help you look for a Job this morning?”

She faces her friends.

“This bastard was on his knees crying and begging me to help him get a job; his mother is going to die in the hospital, so he needs an urgent job.”

Doris points at Damien.

“Out of my kind heart, I spoke with my friend, Rachel, and she decided to offer you a job as a cleaner because of me!”

Doris wants to sound like she's doing Damien a big favor; she doesn't want her friends to think she can't pay the money; she wanted them to believe this bastard needs a job and she was only helping him.

A card-carrying member can buy one bag on credit and pay later; she would've done that in this case because she didn't want to waste her money. Since the sale representative is her friend, she agreed to waive off her balance if she could provide someone to work as a cleaner to cover up the money.

Now Damien can't escape; he will be force to work here. Her cheeks moved.

One of Doris friends pointed at Damien.

“So this is the bastard that refused to leave your house. Now I can feel your pain. He's so worthless. What was Sir Bernard thinking allowing this fool into your house? He should've been arrested and sent to prison to pay for his crimes.”

the other one added.

“As poor as he is, he looks so proud; I have never seen a proud poor man before in my entire life.”

Damien didn't say anything to them; he simply voiced his opinion.

“How much is the price of the bag you damaged?”

They look at Damien and burst into laughter.

“Hahahaha”

“What do you mean by that? Don't tell me you want to pay. What a fool!”

Doris looked at her friends, Brenda and Victoria.

“Can you see what I have been telling you about? He's sick.”

Victoria's eyebrows moved; she couldn't believe Damien was this proud, so she decided to put him in his place.

“What are you going to do when you find out the amount of the bag?”

Brenda taps Victoria on the shoulder.

“I think he wants to pay.”

She faces Doris, laughing.

“The bastard wants to pay; just tell him the amount.”

Doris quickly signal Rachel up to come over; she knows this is the perfect opportunity to land Damien in more trouble. They already planned to force Damien to work here; now it seems the job will be easier.

“How much is the bag?”

Rachel stares at Damien from head to toe; she knows Damien won't be able to pay for the bag; his clothes don't even worth up to a hundred dollars. How can such a person afford an expensive bag?

However, he asked for it.

“$30,000 dollars, that is the cost of the bag.”

Her cheeks moved.

“How do you want to pay, cash or bank card?”

Damien wanted to know how much the bag cost so he could pay later. When Doris and her friends leave Morrity, he doesn't want to spend any money in their present. He was surprised Doris had to lie just to cover up the fact she was broke.

Victoria and Brenda burst into laughter.

“Hahahaha”

Brenda face Rachel

“And you think he can pay? Can't you see the clothes he's putting on? He's a pauper.”

Victoria steps forward to talk to Damien; she can't allow him to talk big and now pretends to be quiet.

“You're going to pay for the bag; you said so yourself; we don't care how you do it, but you must pay for it.”

Damien was thinking of a way to get them to leave so he could pay and go sleep at home; he hadn't been able to have a good sleep since Benjamin broke the news of his identity to him.

Rachel couldn't stand Damien's silence; she also hated Damien's attitude of wanting to show off when he's just a servant. Doris was trying to help him get a job so he could pay for his poor mother's hospital bills.

“Are you going to pay in cash or by bank card? If not, go to the cleaner staff unit and get changed.”

Brenda continues to mock Damien.

“I think he wants to pay in cash; I can see some money in his pocket.”

Victoria uttered.

“Rachel, please don't waste your cleaner's uniform on him; can't you see your staff uniform is better than the clothes he's putting on?”

Damien couldn't stand them insulting him anymore; he wanted to lash out at them when a voice spoke.

“Excuse me, miss.”

Doris and her friends look at the man standing in front of them; their eyes open widely. They didn't expect to see him here, in such a local place.
