'Magic for Beginners'
Be aware
I turned the page. On the second page, a paragraph revealed itself with the topic: "Preface". I started reading:
"To the one who is reading this book. This is an introduction to magic. It will explain to you the basics of understanding magic and not how to use it. It is very important if you want to learn how to use magic without insures or death. Always be aware!"
The first lines of the book are already confusing me. But I will probably understand after reading more about it. I turned the page and continued reading:
"Chapter 1: Basics of Magic
To better understand magic, imagine a towering tree; this tree serves as a perfect symbol for the intricate web of magic.
At the very foundation lies Mana, the lifeblood that courses through every living being, akin to the roots of our tree. Each person, plant, and creature holds his capacity of Mana, the source from which all magic springs forth. As the roots feed the tree, Mana fuels the raw energy that pulsates within the trunk.
As the Mana flows upward, it branches out, much like the branches of our tree, into various disciplines and forms of magic. These branches represent the diverse realms of magical practice, each offering its unique spells.
However, the art of magic is not easily mastered. To harness its power and weave spells, one must possess two essential qualities:
1. Sufficient Mana: Similar to how a tree requires nutrients to grow, having enough Mana is essential to empower spellcasting. Without an ample supply of Mana, even the most skilled practitioners would find themselves unable to cast a spell.
2. Mastery of Mana: Beyond mere abundance, one must also possess the ability to shape and manipulate Mana to their will.
How individuals achieve this mastery varies greatly. Some are blessed with a rare gift — a Mana core within their very being, serving as a conduit for their magic. For these individuals, their body itself become the catalyst through which spells are formed.
Others rely on external aids, be it enchanted wands, ancient incantations, or intricate rituals, to channel and direct their Mana. These tools serve as extensions of their will, guiding the flow of magic and shaping their Mana into a form.
Yet, regardless of the method employed, two fundamental aspects of a Magic caster can be measured:
1. Mana Capacity: The extent of one's Mana reservoir, determining the quantity of magic a magic spell that can be wielded.
2. Mana Control: For those with a Mana core, the accuracy with which they can shape and manipulate their magic, ensures that spells can be formed and manifest as intended.
There are these main different types of magic:
1. Summons: to this category, everything belongs from taming to summoning something.
2. Spellcasting: Magic spells can be categorized in various ways, one of which is by sorting spells based on their attributes such as Light, Darkness, and Elements, along with their tier levels. Each spell possesses a single attribute and is assigned a tier level ranging from 1 to 9. Spells within the range of 1 to 3 are considered basic, while those between 3 and 6 are deemed advanced. Spells falling within the 6 to 9-tier range are regarded as mastery spells, representing the pinnacle of magical prowess.
Legends also speak of a mythical tier beyond the mastery level, known as the 10th tier or god tier spells. However, such spells are shrouded in mystery, and despite the tales, there has been no tangible evidence of their existence, leading many to dismiss them as mere fantasy.
3. Body Improvement: If you possess a Mana core, you can strengthen your own body to greater physical powers. For example, you can strengthen your whole body or just your arm if your control is great enough."
This much information overwhelmed me making me read the chapter again to understand the complexity of magic in this world. The concept of summons, from taming creatures to summoning entities, felt like opening a door to a whole new world of possibilities. It was awe-inspiring to think that such control over mystical beings could be attained through understanding and practice.
The idea of spellcasting, with its different levels based on skills and expertise, felt both challenging and sensible, like solving a tricky puzzle. Each level showed a step forward in becoming better at magic, like climbing a ladder of magical ability.
If I had been in my normal body without my job I wouldn't have understood all this after reading it twice but since the job is giving me quick memory I learned and internalized everything so I could turn the page and continue reading.
