I slid my credit card back into my wallet and hurried out to the sidewalk. The town car idled by the curb but Vivian was nowhere in sight. My heart jumped into my throat and a cold prickle ran down my spine. I wrapped my knuckles on the window and the driver rolled it down.
"Where is Vivian?"
"I figured she was with you. She wasn't out here when I pulled up."
"Dammit!" I slammed my hand against the frame of the car, the metal denting under my palm. She ran off again. She must have taken advantage of the moment I let my guard down and scampered off.
"Boss, do you think she's in trouble?"
I narrowed my eyes and weighed the options quickly. Most likely, Vivian disobeyed me, again. "Circle around the block. See if you can find any trace of her," I ordered.
The driver pulled out into traffic and rolled around the corner. What the hell was she trying to pull? Did she need to constantly put herself in harm's way just to spite me?
