I rubbed my hands on my thighs as the car pulled into the compound cul-de-sac. My heart raced and I felt like someone was sitting on my chest.
“Are you okay?” Grace asked.
I gave her a tight smile. “I don’t know. When I left, things with Finn were in a certain place. But now that I’ve been gone all day…”
“You think he might have regrets?”
My cheeks burned and I twisted my hands in my lap. Grace always knew what was going on. I shouldn’t be surprised she knew what happened between Finn and me.
“I’m guessing he’s the type to change his mind a lot.”
Grace covered my hands with hers. “Look, my brother doesn’t always see what is right in front of him. But when he does, he won’t unsee it.”
“Thanks.” I laughed a little. It sounded high-pitched.
The car came to a stop and when I headed toward the cottage, Grace and the two security guards followed. They’d been so scarce I almost forgot they were tailing us.
