A ghost?

Avery has even forgotten the devil was in the room. The moment Sebastian's father left the dining room, Avery picked up the cutlery and began to eat the food.

Avery ate like a free bird. She didn't even care about how she might look right now.

Sebastian didn't eat, but he watched Avery keenly with interest, and he regrets it now.

The moment the juice of the veggies she had just eaten dripped down the corner of Avery's lips, Sebastian felt something change in his demeanor.

It felt as if he had seen something like this before, but he didn't even know where. His hands were twitching, as if they were talking to him to do something, but he couldn't bring himself to move his fingers.

"Aren't you going to eat,?" Avery asked, raising her head to look at the devil. The food was very delicious, and she couldn't wait to fill herself up with the worms in her stomach.

Sebastian didn't reply, but he stood up from the chair. He couldn't stay any longer because he might regret what he would do later.

"I will be back." That was all he said before walking out of the room.

He closed the door behind him and walked to her father's study room. Sebastian knew he was going to meet his father here.

However, he couldn't stop thinking about the girl in the dining room. It was as if there was something about her that he couldn't pinpoint his attention on.

There is something familiar about her, and he couldn't wait to find out. This woman is affecting him in ways he least expected.

"Come in; I know you are there."

Sebastian opened the door when he heard his father's voice from inside.

"I know she is not the one, Sebastian. What games are you playing with me?" Donovan said, dropping the book he was holding on the table.

He watched Sebastian with keen interest.

"I wasn't going to hide it, and that was why I didn't tell her anything," Sebastian interjected as he rubbed his neck roughly. His eyes mellowed as he rested his hands on the table.

"I needed to make you happy, I know you wanted a grandson. She won't find out," Sebastian added.

"Well, maybe this is a chance for you to make things right. I like her already, so don't worry." Donovan said, a weird smile graced his lips.

"But for deceiving me, Sebastian. I will make things right." Donovan said, pausing before parting his lips again.  "You should go. Let me have the wedding invitation card."

Sebastian only stares at his father calmly. He knew better than anyone not to argue with the man.

"I will send one to you," Sebastian replied, turning to leave the room.

Avery resumed enjoying her food. She was distracted by the buzzing sound of her phone which was a message notifications from Daniella

An evil smirk graced Avery's lips as she dialed Daniella's line.

Just like Avery thought, Daniella picked up the call instantly.

"Hello Ella," Avery said to the phone. Daniella's voice shook as she spoke into the phone.

"Avery, I have missed you.  Where have you been? You left me all alone in the club that night, and everyone was busy looking for you. I missed you." Daniella whined softly like a child but Avery didn't find it amusing one bit.

Avery knew Daniella partook in the sinister plot of Logan against her her that night, but she wasn't sure if Daniella knew everything about it or if she was just playing dumb.

"I know, right? I left early because something came up. I'm sorry for not informing you," Avery explained in the same tone Daniella used.

"Revenge, they say, is sweet when served cold. I will gladly do the same," Avery smiled as she waited for Daniella's reply.

"Where are you, Avery? I came to your apartment, but your door was locked. Is everything okay with you?"

"No, Bitch, but I'm trying every possible way to pay you back tenfold," But Avery didn't say this out loud, as she kept reminiscing about old times.

"Everything is okay. We will talk later babe, got to go muah" Avery blew a kiss to Daniella over phone while Daniella whined in the background.

She kept up the same familiar facade she kept around Daniella.

Avery was getting tired of her lies. It was Logan and Daniella who pushed her into this mess. Maybe she wouldn't have met Sebastian if she had been at home that day.

"Okay, talk to you later," Daniella said on the phone. "Bye"

Avery ended the call and kept the phone back on the table. She was pissed and felt like beating someone to unleash her anger to get rid of her pent up fustration

"Bitch," she grumbled as she rubbed her hand on her tummy like a kitten.

Just in time, Sebastian came back to the room. This time, the air around him was heavy. It felt as if he just had a fight with his father, but Avery only looked at him briefly.

"We should go," he said, looking her way.

Avery picked up her cell phone and dragged her feet toward Sebastian. The man is tall compared to her average height.

Avery and Sebastian entered the car while Connor drove them away from the castle.

The drive was quiet with a seldom atmosphere in the car but unfortunately Avery was bad at reading the mood and didn't know when to keep her mouth shut.

"Are we going to have our wedding next week?" Avery asked the aloof devil beside him.

"You heard me right," he replied. His words were curt, short, and heavy.

Avery pressed her lips against each other as she glanced at the window. She was enjoying the breathtaking view outside when something suddenly clicked in her mind.

Avery switched on her data network on her phone and went to Google to learn more about Sebastian. She typed his name in search box and waited for the search results to appear.

"Sebastian Rylan,"

She discovered his full name when she went through the contract given to her. Avery silently waited for the results to pop up while tapping her finger on her lap out of habit.

Avery immediately glanced through the contents of the results the moment it popped up

However, to her disappointment, Avery couldn't see any of his pictures or biography. Nothing about him was displayed on the internet.

Avery turned her head and saw him resting his head on the back of the seat.

'Are you a ghost?'
