Breaking the wedding news

Avery didn't know what to take out of this. She had hoped to learn something about him, but this is just a dead end.

'Did he belong to the Mafia organisation, or is he a criminal?'

Avery asked herself with her brows raised. One of her hands rested on her chin as she threw him a side gaze.

"Who are you?" Avery muttered under her breath as she averted her gaze from him, looking out through the opened window. Her lips parted slightly.

"Maybe he wants to keep his identity private and only people in NBIS can access his information," Avery thought, but she doesn't even know anyone in the NBIS to dig out information about the devil.

Avery decided to just focus her attention on breaking her fake wedding news to her colleagues and manager.

'If he belongs to a Mafia organization, he wouldn't have approached my father, right?' Avery asked herself as she kept looking at the city.

Sebastian fluttered his eyes open to stare at the human in the car with him. He wasn't even sure why he agreed to this marriage when he could just come up with another excuse for his father.

He closed his eyes, and a smirk graced his lips. Maybe something will be different, but of course, he wishes he hadn't chosen Avery.

Sebastian knew Avery was innocent and naive in some areas, but maybe that was Avery's fate. To be tied to him like this in his hell hole. A world he wasn't ready to bring anyone in.

Connor drove the car into the underground garage of the mansion. Sebastian and Avery get out of the car. Both weren't saying anything to each other as they closed the car door.

Sebastian headed to the entrance of the mansion in his long strides, while Avery walked behind him stealthily like a kitten.

"How could he be so tall?" Avery wondered when she saw Sebastian bend his head a little to get past the door.

He didn't spare her a glance as he ascended the stairs gracefully, his figures disappearing from Avery's sight.

Avery climbed the stairs too when she couldn't see his faint vision. She walked inside her room, closing the door behind her.

Avery got out of the stuffy dress she wore today. The dress was beautiful but too revealing, which she doesn't like.  She rushed into the shower room to take a quick bath.

She looked outside the opened window in the bathroom. She wondered if she would be able to escape from the grasp of the cold devil, but what about her father?

She could see the window was not a bit closer to the ground.

"Unless you are planning to die, Avery," Avery chuckled in the quiet room, shaking her head in disbelief. Why would she consider the option of jumping through the window when she wasn't Batman?

Avery wrapped the white towel draped on the hanger in the bathroom around her body and walked outside. Her body smelled of roses as she applied the sweet lotion to her bronze skin. Her skin glowed in the bright room. She kept humming a song under her breath while she rubbed her arms and legs.

A knock on the door jolted her out of her fantasy as she quickly rose from the bed and headed to the door. When Avery opened the door to see who was knocking, she was surprised that it was the butler.

"Sorry ma'am. I need to bring the bags containing your clothes to your room," the Butler said politely, which Avery didn't like.

This man is old enough to be her father. Why would the Butler show so much respect to her?

"It's fine, sir. You can place it on the door. I will pack everything in when I'm done." Avery replied, flashing the man a smile as she stayed behind the door, not ready to show her naked self.

"Alright, ma'am,"

Avery wore her clothes after applying some oil to her long black hair. She packed in the bags the butler left at her door in the in the room outside.

When she began to take out the clothes, she couldn't stop marveling at the beautiful clothes.

"I guess getting married to you will also benefit me well compared to you," Avery said to herself in the room, as she kept on arranging the clothes into the wardrobe in the room. Grinning like a baby.

She closed the wardrobe when she was done arranging the clothes inside.

Avery lie down on the fluffy bed while taking her phone beside the bedside lamp. She turned on the data connection, and a series of messages popped in on her phone.

Avery smiled when the screen showed a new message from her manager. She clicked on it and read the content.

"You can take your time, Avery, but you need to be back in the space of three weeks. I heard the company has been sold to a new CEO, and he will be making his appearance in 3 weeks,"

"A new CEO?" Avery whispered as she lifted herself and tried to put a call through. Her manager, Mrs. Piper, picked it up at the second ring.

"Hello, Mrs. Piper,"

'Avery, how are you doing and are you enjoying the vacation?' Mrs. Piper asked over the phone, which surprised Avery even more.

Mrs. Piper has always been the lousy type who doesn't really care about Avery's private life. But now that she was asking about her well-being, Avery couldn't hesitate to explain.

"It has been full of mystery, Mrs. Piper, but everything else is fine," Avery said, not knowing how to break the news to them.

She will be getting married and needs to come clean.

"I'm glad you are fine; just take your time, Avery."

"I will, but what do you mean by a new CEO? Why are they selling it? Don't you think I'm supposed to find a new agent company to start working with?" Avery rambled on.

Her career was at stake here, and this is the only means she has left.
