Breaking the wedding news 2

"I will, but what did you mean about a new CEO? Why are they selling it? Don't you think I'm supposed to find a new agent company to start working with?" Avery rambled on.

Her career was at stake here, and this is the only means she has left.

She tucked some strands of her hair behind her ears. Her eyes mellowed in worry. She pressed her lips tighter when she heard Mrs. Piper chuckle in the background.

"No, Avery, you and some other models were to stay till the CEO came back. Just be rest assured that you will get chosen." Mrs. Piper replied with her angelic voice.

Avery smiled upon hearing this. She could see what Mrs. Piper meant. They will have to choose among the models. Some will stay, while others will have to leave. She just needed to pray to be chosen.

Now what is left? Avery was left with breaking her wedding news to Mrs. Piper.

"That is fine, ma'am, but I need to tell you that I will be getting married next week," Avery blurted out like a scared kitten.

Her heartbeat was drumming loudly in her chest. Her breath stiffened with one of her eyes closed.

She moved the phone away from her ears as she awaited Mrs. Piper's reply.

'She is going to scream that I'm lying or something'

And just like Avery guessed, Mrs. Piper shirked into the phone.

"What?" She freaked out. "Congratulations, Avery!" Her voice was laced with excitement.

"Congratulations?" Avery wasn't sure if she had heard right.

Mrs. Piper just congratulated her?

Avery hadn't expected this, but maybe the woman was sweet after all.

"Thank you, Mrs. Piper,"

"I'm glad, Avery, and I'm wishing your marriage a fruitful marriage. I will let others know too."

"Thank you, Mrs. Piper; I will send the invitation card to you soon." Avery promised.

"Alright. You should take care of yourself. I'm so happy for you. Bye," Mrs piper

"Take care of yourself, Mrs. Piper."

Avery placed the phone back beside her and exhaled through her parted lips. Her chest was heaving up and down.

"Finally," she muttered. She was glad she was able to sort that out, and now her chest felt lighter than before.

Avery placed her bare feet on the marble floor and headed towards the door. She closed the door behind her as she walked towards the sitting room.

She just feels like watching a movie right now. Avery took the remote control and changed the TV channel. It was her favorite show showing on the television screen.

"Hey, Tessy," Avery said, smiling as she rested her two hands on her laps.

Her eyes were bubbling with joy as she watched Tessy, the famous actress in Los Angeles, walk up to the stage. Avery has always loved watching this TV show with her sister, back when they were still in high school.

Tessy has always been a role model for Avery. She also wishes to be as famous as Tessy in the future. Avery was so engrossed in the movie that she didn't even notice the Butler was talking to her.

"Ma'am?"

"Apologies; I was so engrossed in the show that I didn't even notice you were here," Avery apologized as she turned to meet the butler's eyes.

"It's fine, ma'am. I wanted to inform you that Mr. Sebastian will not be here until tomorrow morning. I don't know if there will be anything you will like to take or eat." The Butler explained, with his hands crossed behind his back.

"Ohh," Avery replied, wondering why the devil went out when he just walked in a while ago.

Maybe he had gone to his company or something, but why would he deprive her of her freedom? He can walk around, then why chain her to his abode?

"Thank you, but I won't be taking anything for now, sir," Avery said, turning back to face the camera.

She is just angry at herself right now. She felt powerless.

"Alright ma'am. And if you would like to go out, Connor will drive you out,"

"You mean I can go out?" Avery turned to meet the butler's eyes. Her eyes widen, bubbling with joy, as she stares at the man.

"Yes, the young master gave permission," the Butler replied. Relief washed over Avery when she heard this.

"Alright then. Thanks"

"Alright ma'am,"

Avery spent the rest of the day watching movies and replying to some messages from her colleagues.

She retired to her room after taking some bread and milk. The quiet room irked her because she was all alone in the big room, and the devil wasn't even with her.

She has always slept alone for the past few years, but it felt as if today was different, and she could feel some emotions building inside of her.

Is it fear?

Is the house haunted?

She shakes the feeling off, cleansing her mind by crossing her heart.

She wasn't sure, but something was not right. Avery wasn't sure if it was because of the opened window, but right now, she just went to bury herself under the duvet and wish the stars goodnight.

"I will just close the door and sleep," Avery assured herself as she headed to the window slowly.

Her palms felt sweaty despite the air blowing in through the opened window. Her heart almost slipped out of her chest when the curtains suddenly moved because of the breeze.

"You got this, Avery. You can do this." Avery didn't stop chanting this as she exhaled through her lips. Her chest was rising and falling.

The moment she closed the window and drew the curtains, she thanked her stars.

Avery ran to her bed hurriedly and pulled the duvet over her head. She sneaks her hand out to switch off the bedside lamp.

Avery closed her eyes, listening to her favorite music on her phone as she tried to drift into Dreamland.

Sebastian walked into the building like a wolf in the night. The keys jingled in his hand as he walked forward, opening the wide door.

"You came late, Seb," the figure said before switching on the light, and the room became illuminated with light.

"Why did you call me? Tell me what is going  on," Sebastian demanded, sitting on the couch in the room with his legs placed over another.

His presence seeks power, and his demeanor didn't stop exuding a cold aura. His eyes lazily look at the figure in front of him. The temperature in the room dropped.

"She was murdered," the figure replied, pouring alcohol into the glass cup. He took one and gave the other to Sebastian.
