The little secret

"She was murdered," the figure replied, pouring alcohol into the glass cup. He took one and gave the other to Sebastian.

He walked and sat on the couch opposite Sebastian, with a glass table separating them.

"Who was murdered? Cut to the chase, Simon," Sebastian stated, his tone becoming uninterested while he left the drink untouched.

The smell of death still lingered in the room, mixed with the scent of lavender.

"The woman you sent to me to question," Simon replied.

Sebastian furrowed his brows in confusion.

"See, Seb, I think this is getting worse, and you will only make things hard for yourself if they find out about your wedding," Simon whispered in a low voice, audible enough for Sebastian to hear.

"I needed to make this wedding happen to divert their attention, Simon. You should know why I'm doing this," Sebastian's words cut through the silent room.

His eyes were cold, and his face was emotionless as he clenched his fist. His jaws tightened in frustration.

Sebastian's words were like a thorn in Simon's flesh. He knew Sebastian was right, but he was also afraid of what was to come if things didn't go as planned.

"I know you are trying to make them understand, but what about the woman? What if she gets into danger because of you? She is not like us," Simon explained in his deep voice, while Sebastian only glared at him.

"I will take care of her, Simon. I will take care of her, or do you think I'm not capable of taking care of a little girl like her?"

"What about her heart? What if she falls in love with you? What will happen if she finds out," Simon asked.

"Enough, Simon," Sebastian said in a very low voice, which sent shivers down Simon's back. His eyes darkened with a flicker of red in them.

Simon understands Sebastian's message more than anyone. He could see Sebastian was trying everything possible to stay with them, but what if they found out?

"But Seb—"

"Did you call me here to talk about my private life? I thought you wanted to talk about the woman who got murdered."

"Yes, I was going to talk about the woman. Seb, I just wanted you to reconsider your decision and try to find another solution—"

"And I told you, I don't want that. Don't you get it?" Sebastian snapped with his brows furrowed, forming deep creases.

Simon could tell Sebastian was angry, but he was now getting more used to Sebastian's cold self. Maybe it's because they are brothers.

"Years have passed, and the cold temperament of Sebastian hasn't changed," Simon thought as he looked at Sebastian's hard glare before gulping down the drink in the glass.

"Okay, Seb. It's fine. Now about the woman. I think someone knew I took her, and you are right. She confessed before she died," Simon said, trying to brush aside the conversation he just had with his brother.

He decided to place his full attention on the discussion he was having with Sebastian.

"What did she say?" Sebastian asked.

He was already getting impatient with each passing second he spent in the room. He needed to go somewhere.

Simon rose from the couch and headed towards the wine cellar. He pulled out a piece of white paper from the shelves and placed it back on the glass table.

Sebastian took the paper and looked at it, his eyes marred with confusion as he stared at the piece of paper in front of him. It was a drawing. An image of a woman, but he knew her.

Sebastian and Simon recognize her. The room fell silently still.

"She confessed that she was sent to you by her," Simon announced, pointing at the drawing on the paper.

"She is back, Seb, and I think this time she is trying to get you," Simon declared as he reclined back onto the couch. A peaceful calm enveloped the quiet room.

"Then it's fine. Maybe it's time to ask her what she wants. She killed her, which makes it more interesting, Simon." Sebastian said. His tone dipped with contempt.

"Wait!" Simon said with his eyes widening in shock and his mouth left agape. His curiosity tugged at him. "Don't tell me you are going to pay her a visit," Simon asked, rising from the couch.

He didn't stop pacing around the room to and fro. "That's too risky. You don't even know what she wants," he pointed out.

"She will come looking for me. I need to go now," Sebastian said, standing up with his hands tucked in his pocket.

"Don't do anything risky, Seb,"

"One more thing. Don't tell Father anything, and we both know she wants me," Sebastian asserted.

"He wouldn't get to know, so this remains between us."

"Okay," Sebastian replied.

"And I heard she is beautiful! Hazel told me," Simon yelled as he watched Sebastian shake his head before closing the door behind him.

Sebastian got into his car and drove out of the building. A smirk graced his lips while he wondered if his two siblings wouldn't stop digging things out of him.

He put a call through, using ear pods in one of his ears.

"Hello, Sebastian. I guess Simon already told you? Why would you get a girlfriend without letting us know, Sebastian? That's very cruel and rude of you,"

"Will you let me talk now, Hazel?"

"No. And you didn't bother to introduce her to me when you came earlier. Why is that?" Hazel rambled on like a kid. She pout her lips like a baby while whining as she kept turning on the bed.

"Okay. I need you to get a wedding dress for her tomorrow morning. She will be alone, so you will have time to chat—"

"What? You are getting married to her?" Hazel yelled at the phone. Her eyes widened in shock.

Sebastian didn't comment and only allowed her to say whatever speech she was going to deliver.

"I'm so happy for you, Seb. Congratulations," Hazel said with enthusiasm as she showed her perfect white teeth. She couldn't stop grinning.

"You are going to have time to chat with her, but don't stay long," Sebastian said, pausing.

He knew Hazel talked a lot, and she was too friendly, which was something Sebastian hadn't been comfortable with.

"One more thing: don't bore her with too many questions."

"Of course, I won't. Bye. I need to inform Simon."

Hazel couldn't stop smiling even as the call ended. She jumped on it and spread her arms wide like a child. She couldn't believe Sebastian was finally going to give love a chance after several years.

This was the moment she had been waiting for.

"I will get the most beautiful dress that will transform you into the prettiest woman." Hazel shrieked as she lay back on the bed to give Simon a call.
