A new day

"Hey honey." I heard my mom's sweet voice coming from the kitchen. And man did it smell good in there. I left school a little while after the 'weird' encounter with the hot stranger and walked home before I got in trouble.

"Hey mom."

"Well you're home early." she said with a raised eye brow. I sighed and nodded my head, a smile laced my lips once I remembered what happened earlier today.

"Javen is back." She clapped her hands and smirked at me.

"Did he drop you home! Why didn't he come in?" She glanced over my shoulder as if he'll magically come barging in.

"You better not be skipping lessons again young lady." She said with a raised eye brow, I giggled at her reference to the one time Javen took me out on a surprise date in the middle of class, my teacher found out and told on us. She grounded me for a week before caving in on the third day because Javen came up to her and took all the blame.

"No mom, we're not." She hummed and went back to the stove.

"Good, how was school!"

"It was good" I told her as I munched on an apple I got from the fridge. I made a beeline to my bedroom, my hands touching the soft yet rough stairs, inhaling the homely like smell that only my house possesses. I took a warm bath to clear my head, brushed my teeth and wore my PJ's and rolled in bed.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a great day.

*******^^****^^^***^^^****

When I said that, I thought of waking to the sun rays hitting me in my face as the sound of birds chirping outside my bedroom window vibrated in my ears but here I am, in our living room at 5am in the morning with puffy eyes, my hair looks like a bird's nest listening to my mother.

Wait.

She. Is. Leaving????

Just like that I sat up straight as if someone just electrocuted my butt.

"Your leaving?"

"Isabella didn't you hear what I just said!" she said with a bored expression.

"Is it blah blah leaving blah!" I replied.

"Izzy, I have to go on a business trip with my boss." she pauses as if to look that I'm still listening. "You're in charge."

"For how long will you be gone?" I ask, the thought of my mother leaving the country for the first time worrying me.

"A week! it'll depend on how the deal goes,"

"Where are you going and have you told Jess yet?" I asked as a yawn made it's way out of my mouth.

"France and yes I did! Last night."

"And you couldn't have told me too, you just had to wait till dawn to tell me!" I semi-yelled at her. I'm not a morning person at all.

"I knocked on your door last night, you we're asleep." She says with a tired sigh as if this was hard for her. Just then I realize the eye bags under her eyes and dark circles. I feel like I'm forgetting something, she's going to FRANCE!!

"We'll be fine mom." I assure with a smile.

"It's just that, I've never been away from my babies for so long." she mumbles teary eyed. See!! This is exactly what I mean by I'm worried, she's a sucker for her kids through and through. She cried in my embrace while I kept reassuring her that we'd be fine. I mean its just me and Jess in the same house alone, how hard can it be! I pulled away feeling tired of scorting the whole time and wiped away her tears. Her phone vibrated and she grabbed it as though she wasn't crying a while ago.

"Time for school." she says with a smile. I groaned and went back upstairs in my room, I did my morning business, looked myself over the mascara and foundation I applied did a good job hiding the dark circles under my eyes. I dragged my feet to the kitchen and found mom flipping pancakes while talking to Jess.

"No parties while I'm gone." She says with a stern look on her which only makes her look horrible with all the dark circles under her eyes. Jess rolled her eyes at her.

"Morning to you dear sister."

"Are you going to school looking like that!" she asks with a disapproving look. I glared at mom and Jess giggled.

"I told her to tell you last night, I swear." she says smiling. I grinned and nodded my head.

"Enough about the past." Mom says. 'Oh so its in the past now'

"I'll be leaving soon and I just want you girls to:-" The door-bell interrupted what was going to be a whole speech and I internally thanked my stars.

"I'll be right back." She says and goes outside to check who it is.

"So, I hope you won't be a pain in the neck for the next few days." Jess mumbles while looking me over.

"Mom said that friends are allowed in the house, my friends will be coming over sometime." I just hummed in response not really interested.

"Oh my goodness, right now!" my mom's loud voice echoed through the kitchen. Jessica jumps off the counter to check what's happening and I follow closely behind.

"Mom, what's wrong!"

"The trip was extended to today." Mom says with a sad face. I looked at the bald guy standing outside our house and gave him a nod to which he replied the same.

"Oh, well look on the bright side, you'll go sight seeing" Jess says trying not to show how sad she is but failing miserably.

"Yah mom have a blast." I say with a huge smile on my face.

"You girls do realize that it's a business trip," my mom says with an eye roll.

"You better get packing then." Jess says. She ushers her upstairs, leaving me with the driver who is standing in the door way awkwardly.

"Done." My mom's voice boomed behind us.

"That was fast." Jess mumbled.

"Yah, I packed last night just incase something like this happened," She says with a shrug. We walked her outside and she got her stuff in the car the company she works for sent her.

"You girls be good ok!" She says with teary eyes.

"Yes mom." We say at the same time. She hugged us goodbye and got in the car, the driver saluted us before speeding away.
