Childhood Friend

Just stay calm...

It's going to be alright...

Nothing bad is going to happen...

I mean, what's the worst that could happen...right?

The flat was bigger than I expected on the inside. It wasn't the fanciest flat you would find in a city, but it was suitable for a decent, middle-class person. The receptionist was asleep in his chair, so he didn't see me enter.

I walked up the stairs instead of taking the lift. I had a strange superstition that if you entered a lift on your own, the chances of the lift's cables breaking are high. I wasn't going to take that risk, even though it was rather ludicrous.

The flat was oddly quiet. I found no one walking around.

Was everyone already asleep?

I highly doubted it. It wasn't even 7pm yet.

As I walked up the stares, I heard a 'ping' sound come from my tunic pocket. It was my phone. I totally forgot I had it with me. I checked my notifications, and saw a message from Amara.
