Chapter 19

This world didn't fascinate the daughter of the Goddess of Justice, Astrea. She was concentrated on one thing and one thing alone. She was bringing justice to those who sinned against the Gods.

She went to school and the first thing that happened was everyone staring at her. She was dressed differently than Annabelle normally and looked like a regular student.

She sat in class reading one of Annabelle's books a bit flustered. 'How can she read this with a straight face?' she thought, and she closed the book her right hand twitching in annoyance.

She saw Jamie walk into class and she got into character. "Hey Annabelle," he greeted her, yawning.

"You seem tired," she said.

"I slept late," Jamie replied. "Any way you look..." He indicated her entire outfit. "Different? Did something happen?"

"No, just felt like changing my style," Astrea replied.

"Alright?"

"Hey," she said, acting a bit shy. "Can I come over to your house? I want to talk to your brother."

'All of a sudden?' Jamie thought. 'But she looks like she wants to tell him something important.'

"Okay," he said casually.

Niel walks in, looking a bit too happy. "You're happy," Jamie said.

"Just got a sweet date," Niel replied happily, he noticed Annabelle and was stunned. His mouth was opened agape.

"What?" Astrea said rudely.

"Who ungothed you?" Niel said, looking horrified.

Astrea was annoyed by this and it was very evident. "Niel sit down, you're being noisy," Jamie said tiredly.

"You look tired bro, what happened?" Niel asked worriedly.

"Nothing much, just tired," Jamie replied.

"What happened? Did the roach bother you again?"

"What?" Jamie said a little annoyed. "I stayed up late playing video games, this has nothing to do with Brittany," he said. "Also what did I tell you about calling her a roach?" he said scoldingly.

"Right," Niel said unapologetically. 'It's good I'm not saying the millions of words in my head,' he thought.

From Annabelle's memories, Astrea knew who Niel was talking about and felt Jamie was too forgiving. 'Surprisingly, the brother of the Demon General is like this,' she thought.

"Have you noticed how ungothed Annabelle looks," Hudson said in a gossipy voice.

"Yeah, never thought I'd see an ungothed Annabelle before Hudson finally proves he's a real skater," Mike said sassily. "But she never said anything about becoming normal," he said.

"I don't think that's Annabelle," Brick said.

"Yeah," Finn and Mike said agreeing with him.

"What do you mean?" Hudson asked not understanding the situation.

"Well one, she didn't come to join us for lunch and stayed in class, and she didn't read any of her novels," Mike said like it was a big deal.

"I don't see where you're going," Finn said, confused by Mike's point.

"No one just changes overnight," Brick said.

"I say let's confront her and demand answers," Hudson said.

"If you mean politely ask her if she's alright because we are worried for her wellbeing?" Finn said. "Then alright."

"After school then, it seems like a perfect time to ask what is going on," Mike said. "Because if she's pissed off about something, we would be able to run off without getting our asses kicked."

"That sounds like a good idea," Brick said nodding in agreement.

After school, they wanted to confront her as planned, but it came to a halt when they saw her and Jamie walking together.

This was shocking to the four boys. "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Mike said.

"Do you think they are going out on a date?" Hudson said.

"Maybe that's why she changed her style... She finally gained the confidence to ask him out on a date," Brick said.

Mike frowned. "No," he said seriously. "That's not Annabelle," he said. "She would never change her style overnight just for a boy."

"We may never know for sure," Finn said.

"Unless we follow her," Hudson suggested.

Astrea was annoyed with the presence of the boys stalking them, but she ignored it. "Are you alright?" Jamie asked.

"Yes," she replied.

"Okay," he said. "So what do you want to talk about to my brother?" he asked.

"I am curious about familial mark," she said. "I want to know if I can get cool powers from it," she said.

Jamie was confused about it. 'Why is she suddenly curious about this?' he thought, but didn't think about it too much.

'He doesn't seem to believe me,' Astrea thought. 'Whatever... It doesn't matter.'

They got to the apartment building and Astrea assumed the entire building belonged to the Demon General and sneered in her heart. When they got to the apartment it was opened by Minos who welcomed him back happily.

'Demons?' she thought, on guard. Any wrong move and they would attack her.

She saw Hansel standing behind Minos and looking directly at her. "Oh, you came over," he said blankly. "I was planning on finding you so we could talk," he said.

"Huh?" Jamie said confused.

"Let's go," Hansel said coldly to Astrea.

Once they left, Beel said, "I expected him to kill her."

"Eh?! Why?" Jamie exclaimed in horror.

"She's an angel possessing your friend," Varinne explained quietly.

"She's not any angel, though," Layla said. "She's a demi-god and the daughter of the Goddess of Justice," she said in disdain. "She's as hypocritical as the Goddess herself."

"You seem familiar with her, Layla," Beel said.

"I've only heard stories about her," Layla replied. "None are good, they are horrible even for an angel... Falsely accusing those who have crossed her on false charges in her courtroom and sentencing them to the ultimate punishment."

"Death," Beel said.

"But she wouldn't be much of a threat, would she?" Minos asked worried.

"Unlikely," Beel replied.

Meanwhile, Jamie was freaking out internally since he had unknowingly led an angel to his doorstep. He doesn't know what he would do if something bad happened to Hansel. "Should we follow him?" he asked.

"He ordered us not to follow him," Minos said. "We're not about to disobey."
