A New Goal

The choices were minimised to the level of 3 rather than 5 in total, including himself. The dragon remained stubborn to his statement.

"I can't reverse the offer, If you don't want then reject it" he grunt in little to no interest. It felt like it wasn't essential to this dragon regarding Clark's family lives or die.

Nevertheless, Clark had to choose who he needed to save whether it's his two siblings that are precious or his parents that have been with him from the very start of his life.

His restless eyes were glued to the system screen, biting his lips repetitively. Is this the only option left for him?

"I have a question"

"My ears are up" The dragon said with a disgruntled voice and stared at Clark in a discourteous manner.

"Would Rejecting the offer will send me to the afterlife?"

The dragon snorted at the boy's question, "Isn't it obvious? You're alive because you haven't made a decision." crossing his hands and his mouth curved in contempt.

His mind was associated with memories surging like a storm. He couldn't just irrationally pick any of them. His heart pounds with irresistible pain.

Matter of fact, the time above his head was concluding that he was unaware of. The dragon sported his two eyes turning towards the both timer and Clark's germinating anxious eyes.

"Time is running low" the dragon remark, hinting Clark of the losing time.

An immense burden fell on the boy's shoulders as if he was carrying a bulldozer. Nervousness overflowed his mind. Out of nowhere, the dragon's face turns in with confusion.

The dragon blinked his bewildered eyes, not believing the boy's expression. 'What a strangeness'.

Clark composed his disturbing feelings and emotions that were restraining his mind to thinking of a clear way. Nevertheless, he sported a calm and delineated expression.

"You know" He spoke two phrases before delaying for a second then opening his mouth again to spit out the other remaining words. "I wouldn't choose any of them"

This caused the dragon to immerse in the confusion that could only be resolved with an answer, "Did I hear it right? Are you really right with your answer?" The dragon asked him to be really sure of what he was saying.

Clark spoke what he had in his mind, "Both of the offers are kind of shabby"

Hearing the words the dragon burst in a fit of rage that sparked in his ravishing face that turned to hideousness. The anger that the dragon sported wasn't for the circus but to let Clark feel and absorb it in his heart and mind.

Surprisingly, Clark sported no sign of germinating fear, It meant that the dragon wasn't viable to raise his influence of forbidding power into the sturdy mind Clark that was keeping a hold of his seriousness.

Paradoxically, It wasn't that the dragon really evinced his appealing power to frighten Clark; rather he wanted him to swallow the fear and voluntarily sign the contract.

'Damn, it's really difficult to stay composed. Is he gonna radiate that power constantly?' Clark thought while continually holding his ground impressively.

Before this went down any further, The surrounding shook violently making the attention be distracted by the unnatural event.

The dragon belatedly realised and fell into anxiety. His face was displaying a displeasing look as if trouble for him had arrived. Unlike him, Clark was cluelessly worried of the unanticipated quake.

'Why's the ground shaking?'

The dragon's disdispleasing eyes glared at Clark and uttered words in exasperated voice, "Today seems like you're lucky, human child" as those words came out of his mouth, he demolished in the dark field.

The second the dragon left Clark all by himself. He felt a dose of dizziness causing his vision to faint little by little. 'Why am—' he wasn't able to complete his question and fell to the ground in unconsciousness.

He didn't know the aftermath of the quake and what caused it, but one thing was certain. whatever or whoever did it caused the dragon to flee from there, it had both positive and negative points, didn't have to accept the offering but in the process he neither was about to save his family.

Clark eyelids dispatch from each other in a rush as he gasps for air. His consciousness steadily kicked in, he glanced around at his surroundings.

He asked himself after analysing his room, where he was staying. 'Am I in hospital?' seeing the equipment fit in the room, it wasn't so difficult to guess it out.

Surprisingly, he didn't faced any injury. It was evident that he really met the dragon and the system offering was real.

'Now that I think about it, Why am I in the hospital?' it was strange that he was in a hospital, the only answer to it can be that there must be someone who came for the rescue.

While he was focused on reasoning an answer to this mystery. The door of the room was pushed open, and a man wearing clothes with a black suiting coat entered the room.

'Creak'

Clark in an instance recognizes the man. He called the man by his title, "Uncle?". The man in black was his uncle kevin, who came forth with his dull steps.

Sitting on the bed with his legs hanging down and foot in contact with the roughly designed floor.

There was no cheerful face rather a bitter sadness, Clark could sense it too. He knew for the fact that whatever he would hear wouldn't be good news.

Kevin's lips remained ceased, he must be thinking how to express the news to clark. Finally, his glued lips detached from one another and the voice wandered out with words that were indeed bad news.

"About the incident…" Kevin paused, it seemingly was hard for him to say what needed to be said. Clark was attentive and his ears focused was all on his words. "You're brother and sister survived but…" he started with good news to keep things calm and peaceful only to bombastic feelings with mixed emotions. "You're mother and father have gone missing"

"What missing?!" he was disoriented upon hearing the news, it was neither the worse nor good but in the medium. It couldn't be clarified whether they are alive or dead.

"I'm glad my siblings are safe" His eyes were saddened as he looked at the hands that were clutching the patient's clothes tightly.

"Yeah, But Sima wouldn't be able to walk" Another bomb fell on Clark that made his heart beat in tight pain.

After that Kevin handed him a smartphone, the bright light reflected on his face and an article were visible on the screen. Moving his finger down to the left and capturing those words in mind to understand it.

He came to know that the world is facing portals that are called gates, they are all so called Gates. Monster of various pierces through the gates after sometimes.

Clark was sleeping for 2 whole days during that time many more surprising events occurred, Such as humans with magical powers sported from their hideout and defeated the monsters.

One of them being Clark's uncle. Kevin.

"Clark…" Kevin with his dry dead eyes stared at Clark's downhearted face and declared, "Promise me something?".

Clark's mind was swinging and his focus was leaning away, but grasping himself, he lightly asked "what promise?".

"Whatever happens, you will stay strong and protect those two(His siblings)"

With a determined voice, an newly eagle voice came from his mouth, that was still struggling to keep a stable momentum "I promise you, and i will surely find my missing parents too"

Kevin only nodded his head in satisfaction.
