Evil and Good System

Seasons changed multiple times, and that shows two years passed in a blink of an eye.

Two years ago, a disaster occurred in the shape of portals. Those dazzling whirls of magic were fear for the humans that couldn't be described. They were known as Gates. Monsters emerged from the gates that were imprisoned on the other side.

Humans weren't aware of this surprise, as they fell victim to heavy casualties.

Just as the hope of light was dimming down, the sun shone in the form of humans with supernatural abilities. Protecting civilians from the shadow of monsters.

At first, the monsters had the upper hand only to fall back and be killed. The number of these monsters decreases like water evaporates on a hot surface.

Peace was somewhat restored—not all, as the gates didn't disappear, but materialised all over the globe. Nevertheless, Superhumans were present and cleared the gates from inside; it was the only way to make it dissipate.

These supernatural humans were divided into 2 classes.

People who contained white energy were called heroes; in contrast, people with black energy were known as hunters.

Guilds were created, and four divisions were further installed. Each division had its own captain and vice captain, with the guild master being the one to establish the guild.

Among those mighty powers stood a distinctive nineteen-year-old with little to no magical energy. Yet he fought monsters with the craft of a swordsman and many more.

This courageous lad was indeed marvellous and inspiring for those who didn't have or contained little magical energy. Belonging to a guild, where only magical hunters and heroes planted their names.

Even then, he was on top of them.

It was no other then. Thomas, aka Clark Benjamin.

After the incident, his parents went missing. The one to be suspected behind their disappearance could be that dragon. Clark, for the past two years, and his uncle did their best to find them but came with nothing in hand that could be helpful.

But where is Clark right now?

"Captain Alex, what the heck is the meaning of this?" Clark was hanging on the edge of the cliff with his life on the line; only his hands were keeping him from falling to his death.

"What do you mean? I'm just trying to clean the garbage." Alex Barker, twenty-seven years old, stamped on Clark's fingers that were clutching the hard ground.

"Arghhh"

"Isn't it funny, seeing such a strong human in a pathetic state? You were dominating inside the gate, but now." He rubbed his foot, causing more pain to Clark.

Alex gave struggling Clark a wicked broad smile, showing no sign of pity. Leaning his face closer, Alex uttered, "You don't deserve to live when you cause so much trouble for others and me."

A nervous smile appeared on Clark's mouth, with a lower voice, he said. "Trouble? Ah, isn't it obvious that I'm better than all of you? You're just jealous."

There was another individual standing; he was the vice captain, William, who was standing a little distance away from them.

"You know that you shouldn't be saying things like these when I can just make you fall to your death." He was annoyed and pressed his foot harder on Clark's fingers.

"Try me, Bich."

"You asked for it." Furious, Alex got up and aggressively kicked Clark's hands. "ARGH!" His grip was released as he began to fall.

Clark's eyes saw a bitter smile on Alex's face. 'Fuck' he cursed, knowing that he would be good as dead once he crashed on the ground. 'Is this how I will die? Because of these bastards, sigh,' he closed his eyes and relaxed himself; memories flashed before his eyes in a semi-transparent form.

'There are too many things to worry about. I wish I had powers like others; then I might have been able to save myself'. In fact, his endurance wasn't as great as his other stats.

So surviving against a fall from this level of height, reaching a 350-metre tall building, was inevitable.

His head surged with worry, which only made complicated pressure on him. Worrying for his siblings was the most important thing for him. 'At least Uncle will be there to protect them.'

He thought curiously, 'What will Uncle's reaction be to my death? Maybe the world will be destroyed.' He giggled at the amusing imagination of the world being destroyed by his uncle.

'It's funny how even death doesn't seem to be that scary anymore'

'Crash'

Clark hit the ground hard. Internal parts of his body were damaged, and blood burst out through the damaged skin and splashed on the ground swiftly.

He didn't open his eyes till the last of his breath. 'So, this is how it feels to die after a fall.' His bones were cracked down and broken.

'...' several minutes passed.

'Shouldn't my consciousness be fading?' Uncannily, not only did he stay in consciousness, but the pain in his body reduced to the point he couldn't feel anything.

Opening his eyes instead of witnessing a blue sky and sunlight to make things visible, he saw a cragged ceiling.

'Is this hell? Parphas, it must be since I killed a lot of monsters' Clark tried to get up; however, his body didn't respond in a good manner, as if it were stiffened.

He tried to move his hands. Thankfully, they were working properly. 'Sigh. Do I have to crawl?'

'Ding' He heard a sound, something like a phone notification.

Clark tilted his head successfully to see what was behind this sound, 'That,' there was a cutted sandhand without a body connected to the ground, and atop was an octahedron-shaped crystal levitating.

Curiosity filled his heart and mind; he crawled with the support of his hands, although it was difficult for his strength wasn't at it's all rather barely present. On top of that, he was perplexed as to how he was healed.

After crawling for a decent sum of time, he held onto the little finger of the hand that was at least the size of his shin. Automatically, a message appeared before his eyes.

'Ding'

[Congratulation]

[You have found a hidden system]

'A hidden system?' Clark got flashbacks of the system that gave him the offer; after seeing the blue screen of the system, a doubtful expression appeared on his face.

[What do you wish to achieve?]

"Achieve?" Clark stared at the blue glowing screen that reflected its light on his face with a dumbfounded expression.

[Yes! With the system, you can achieve whatever you wish]

He didn't forget to ask the same question, which he inquired from the dragon back then, "What is the condition?" Of course, he isn't going to trust any system or whatever.

[You have to make a contract with me]

Insistly, Clark refused. "Nah, I'm not buying it, by the way, thanks for healing me." he knew.

[The contract is necessary, or else I wouldn't be able to supply the abilities and other matters to you.]

Clark gazes at the screen seriously. "Is that all? You aren't telling me everything, like that dragon."

[Dragon?]

Clark folded his hand and answered, "Yeah, once I met a dragon that came with a system to offer me help."

[And he told you to sign a contract and offer you help when you were in a desperate situation?]

"Yeah," Clark said, his mouth opening slowly, realising how accurate the guess was.

[Would you like me to check your memories for detail]

At first, Clark was hesitant; why would he let a strange system dig his memory? "Sure," he reluctantly said, only to regret his words after opening his mouth.

[System checking your memories] It didn't take a second before the system started checking the memories.

[Checking Complete]

[You have indeed met with the evil system].

"Elaborate"

The system explained that Clark on that day met an evil system that approaches despairing people. Seeing the opportunity, he tried to use him.

The system brings offers of help and then makes them sign the contract. Where they have to obey him obediently without questioning. Not only that, if they don't, then he kills them and searches for someone else. Like a scammer looking for people in need of money.

"I have a question?"

[Yes!]

"Wouldn't you also be telling me to obey you?"

[That isn't the case; you will have all the freedom; my only job is to help the user of the system achieve their wish, except that I will have to give quests only when necessary.]

"Does it involve humans hunting?"

[Humans with evil intention, in order to stop them Quests might be given other than that you are freely to do what you wish]

Finally, Clark made the contract. Afterwards, there was still doubt in his heart.

[The system is now linked to the user.]

[The user will receive the blessing of the former swords kings.]

[Error]

[User soul is cracked]

[Because the soul is cracked, many functions, including proper INT, will be locked.]

['Other stats' will be unavailable until the soul is healed.]

[Main Stats]

[Stats:

Name: Clark Benjamin

[Other stats not available]

There were many confusing things, asked but only faced a simple reply.

[You're level isn't sufficiently high. The answer can't be granted]

"Useless wireless screen"

Then he asked what was in his mind as he wondered, "Can you search for my family? Since you have seen my memories, you must have known that my parents went missing."

[Yes! However, I have tried to find them before you could ask. The answer is, They aren't present in this world]

"What does that mean? Are they dead?"

[Can't confirm that]

"Argh…" he groaned in anger because even now, with a system, it couldn't help as he felt sadness and hopelessness,

[New Quest]

'A quest right away?'

[Learn about your ability—Sword Art] Finally, he wasn't a normal human anymore, as he received powers like other humans.

A grin appeared on Clark's face, 'I will for sure find them, but now I have to learn my abilities first'
