I Said I Would Help You!

I don't know how long I stood there, but finally a car came out from inside. I quickly stepped forward to stop it. The window rolled down, revealing a middle-aged man. Seeing me shivering, he asked, "Do you need something?"

"...I'm here to see Mr. Brown about a business matter," I learned to be quick on my feet, adding, "The manager of the marketing department would do as well!"

"Which Mr. Brown are you looking for?"

"Spring Brown!"

He eyed me for a moment, "Then get in the car."

I hurriedly opened the door and got in, overflowing with gratitude, "Thank you, thank you so much!"

By now, my teeth were chattering, and my lips trembled.

As the car started, the man said, "Don't thank me just yet. I'll drop you off where you can catch another ride. Mr. Brown really isn't here, and waiting around won't help."
