Unwelcome Guests

Suddenly, the sound of urgent footsteps echoed through the corridor, startling me. In a panic, I pushed him away, bewildered by my own actions. A hall full of guests awaited my return, yet here I was, lingering in the embrace of another man.

I struggled to leave, but he caught my arm and pressed a card into my hand, "Room key for upstairs, come up in 20 minutes!"

Hastily, I tried to give the card back to him. I didn't want to go; I couldn't do the same thing George did. After all, today was our wedding anniversary celebration, and at the very least, I was still George's wife for the day.

"What are you thinking?" Joy's long fingers held the room card, looking at my flushed face. "Thinking too much? If you want, I'm absolutely willing to comply."

"What are you saying?" I growled quietly, twisting away to leave.

He pressed the card back into my hand, "You'll know when you get there. It's up to you whether you come or not!"
