Knocking at the Door

It was rather embarrassing that my divorce had become such public spectacle, known by everyone.

In truth, I knew Colin Evans quite well. He was my senior in high school and we both ended up at G city University. From our small town, it was just the two of us at the university. Back then, he took good care of me, like the boy next door. During the winter and summer breaks in our freshman year, we would travel back home together, and he always made all the arrangements for me.

After I started dating George, Colin graduated and left the university. I heard he went abroad for further studies.

After discussing the job, we chatted about other topics. I asked him where he had been these past few years. Before the interview ended, he promised to deliver a proposal within three days.

That evening, I called Monica and asked her to find out where Colin Evans had been these last few years. It was crucial information for my next steps.
