The Mysterious Old Injury

"...Yes," I replied, lowering my head.

He suddenly laughed, a laugh so charming it could captivate anyone. "Alright, Grace, you've finally made your choice."

I looked at him in a panic, unable to understand his reaction. I stared at him wide-eyed.

What was I hoping to find in his expression?

Wasn't this what he wanted? Why did he say it was my choice? I wondered what his mindset was. Why did he openly show affection to other women and put all the responsibility on me?

"You have courage, living only for yourself. That's admirable. Don't worry, I will protect your interests and won't breach our contract!"

I stared at him, a bit stunned.

"Go," he said, standing up straight and looking at me. "If you've made up your mind, then leave. If you keep looking at me like that, I'll think you can't bear to leave me. Then there will be no room for you to turn back."
