She smiled smugly, deliberately keeping me in suspense. "Guess."
"I'm not curious at all. Why should I guess?" I said, refusing to play along.
Hearing this, Eliza's face turned cold as she asked, "Don't you want to know about Joy?"
I scoffed, giving her a sidelong glance full of mockery. "What's there to be curious about? He's your boyfriend, not mine. Joy is just a business partner to me. Did someone fool you again? Did you get played?"
I laughed lightly, watching her expression of helplessness. If this were yesterday, I might have been eager to know and fallen for her ploy. But now, even if I was anxious, I wouldn't show it.
My attitude clearly confused Eliza.
She looked at me in disbelief and asked, "You really don't want to know?"
"Do I look like I'm lying?" I said, pretending to be calm as I lazily leaned back on the sofa. "Whoever sent you here is up to no good, trying to sow discord."
