Walking into the "dungeon", I was spooked by the sudden appearance of a new menu. The top was titled "Dungeon Map - Tomb of the Red WarDemon." Pretty self explanatory, the majority of the panel was taken up by a basic blueprint of what could only be the place we were in. In the bottom corner there was a small disclaimer that read 'for the first dungeon any player enters extensive help and information will be provided.' ??player?? I guess that would explain the blue windows, I thought, This place does seem awfully like a game… I even have a health bar. "Hey Kevin, what are you doing?!" Winter yelled from quite a bit ahead of me. I wonder what help it meant with that little disclaimer… Should I tell Winter about this and the system? It's obvious that he's hiding something too anyway. "Kevin??" Winter started to walk back towards me, but I wasn't really paying attention. He would probably believe me, I mean, I don't really know anything about this new world if I am being honest, maybe the system is normal? But it did say something weird like me being a player. Winter was now in front of me waving his hand in front of my face, but the map was still there so I couldn't really see his hand too well, as a result it was ineffective and I kept thinking. Plus he's stuck with me all these 2 weeks or something… it can't hurt to be honest I guess.
I zoned back into a very concerning sight. With his hand pointing straight at my head Winter was aiming a very sharp looking bright white arrow made of light that was only getting brighter. "Wait stopstopstopstopst-." "oh, you are back" Winter muttered "WHAT DOES THAT MEAN" "ah well, you were not responding to me at all so I remembered how to use some light magic that I hoped would bring some clarity to your mind" "by sending me to the afterlife !??" chuckling a little, Winter explained "no, it was intangible, it is just meant to startle someone a little I guess" see? he instantly re-generated the spell and blasted it towards my head. It jolted me a little and I remembered what I was going to say before he surprised me.
"I have something to tell you" "wh-" "there is this blue window that I can see, it's actually in front of me right now with a map of the dungeon on it, and it tells me a bunch of stuff, like as I just said there is a map of this place on it." "really?" "yeah, do you have something like that?" I asked. After thinking for a second Winter responded "Well there is this strange book that has been following me around" "following you around?..." "Whenever I leave it somewhere it always appears in one of my pockets. Here," He held out one of his hands and he was holding… nothing? "I don't see anyth-" I was cut off by another system notification appearing much too close to my face. 'Worldview expanded' it said on it, disappearing as soon as I was done reading it. What the… looking back at Winter, I now saw him holding onto an old looking leather bound book. "Can I see it?" I asked, a little confused, stretching out my hand. Winter handed it to me and… I dropped it. "Sorry" bending to pick it up. I missed it, and then missed it again. Wait, my fingers are passing through it, what the heck. "I can't touch it," I said monotonously. Picking it up, Winter tossed it at me, and upon seeing it pass through me, he agreed. "So, where should we go based on your map?" Winter asked, not bothering to pick up the book. "Probably just-" another window popped up that said 'due to unfortunate conditions, starter privileges have been revoked.' and the map 'glitched' out of existence. "It disappeared," I said after a second. Winter started to laugh at me. "I'm serious" "I know."
After Winter stopped laughing we continued on. There was an abrupt transition from brown crumbly stone walls that looked like they would collapse any instant to a nicer gray tiled flooring and stone brick walls. The path that we were on quickly opened up into a medium sized room full of old wooden coffins. It was lit dimly with torches, small blue flames sputtering above them.
