Caleb leaned over and cupped my cheek. He gave me a quick kiss and looked me in the eyes. "This is the first time you've said it," he whispered in his raspy voice.

"Said what?" I asked, breathless because of the sudden proximity and the sweet kiss.

He sat down on the bed while facing me and smiled softly. "That you love me."

"Now that I think about it, it's true. I've never said it before, have I?" I lowered my head shyly. "But you are my mate. Isn't it natural to love you?"

"It sure is." He leaned in and kissed me again, this time longer and with more passion. His sweet taste overflowed inside my mouth as our tongues wrestled for dominance.

For someone who hates the smell of cigarettes, I never thought I would grow fond of the smoky and minty taste of his kiss.

After sharing fervent kisses, he rested his forehead on mine. I closed my eyes, out of breath, and ended up giggling because I was feeling extremely happy today.
