(Flash back continued..... Matthew and crew)
"Shut down the elevator" Matthew instructed the office personnel as they pushed buttons on the control panel.
Everyone watched as the screen displayed the shocked countenance of Tisane, whom began to press buttons on the elevator panel.
"Why doesn't she just knock him out?" Jerry asked with a tone of annoyance. He couldn't understand why they had to play it gentle with the intruder.
"Because that's not part of the plan" Matthew simply replied.
"But the plan is pointless" Jerry stated with a frown; "I mean what else do we want to know about him except that he's a lawless prick"
Before Matthew could reply, everyone gasped in surprise as Tisane went through an outlet in the ceiling of the elevator.
"This..."
"Did he just take off without trying to lend a helping hand to her?"
"What he did was based on options weighed and the best course of action considered" one of the security personnel said; "in other words this is quite a decisive guy"
"Decisive or not, he has to be stopped before he ruins our reputation" Matthew said.
Tapping his bracelet again, he spoke; "Sabrina"
**Hey Matthew** the voice of Sabrina replied through the bracelet. **Reactivate the elevator and send me up**
Jerry scowled as he tapped his own bracelet and spoke through it; "And why should we do that, I mean you let him to go when you were supposed to keep him occupied in the elevator"
**What nonsense are you spitting Jerry?!** Came the angry reply from Sabrina.
"The nonsense that says you screwed up! Besides, I never knew that the great Sabrina would be abandoned so easily by a guy, most especially by an ordinary human...hehe"
**Jerry when I get my hands on you, you'll be eating my fist for lunch!** Sabrina erupted.
"Enough both of you!" Matthew had had enough of their constant bickering. "Sabrina, why did you let him go?"
**I didn't know that he'll be so determined to continue his journey without the use of the elevator** Sabrina replied. **And besides you told me not to apprehend him yet that we were sort of testing him**
"Well your test subject is heading for the top floor. And we were told not to allow him to get there" Jerry said.
**That won't be a problem** Sabrina replied. **We all know that he'll never reach the top floor**
"But what if he does?" Jerry asked.
"Then we'll be waiting for him" Matthew cut in.
"What do you mean by we'll be waiting for him?" Jerry asked as he stared at Matthew.
Matthew turned and stared back at Jerry as he said; "We are going to the top floor"
"Huh but is that necessary?....I mean senior Sabrina will be able to catch up with him before he gets there" Melissa said.
"That may be true, but I don't place my faith in uncertain possibilities. This guy was confident enough to invade the number one company in the country, it is safe to say that he has other tricks up his sleeve" Matthew said.
"But do you think that you'll be able to make it before he does....the distance from here to the top floor is farther than you think" one of the security personnel said.
"We have our ways" Matthew said with a serious face as he suddenly brought out a strange device which glowed and brought forth a holographic display, followed by a mechanical voice;
_**Teleportation on standby.....scanning environmental structure.....the NPLC skyscraper**_
The hologram displayed an X-ray model of a tall building.
"Twenty-five floors...." Matthew muttered with raised eyebrows as he stared at the hologram.
"This...." The office personnel in the room exchanged glances as their eyes betrayed their surprise.
"We will be off now" Matthew declared as he beckoned to Melissa and Jerry who then moved closer to him.
"Huh....do you wish to use an elevator....we have one----" the office worker who spoke was cut short by a wave of Matthew's hand.
"That won't be necessary. Besides we will get there faster this way" Matthew said.
_**Teleportation ready.....do you wish to jump to the selected location?**_ The mechanical voice spoke again.
"Yes" Matthew responded as a bright glow that only lasted for few seconds enveloped him, Jerry and Melissa.
As the glow dispersed, the three of them were gone, much to the great shock and surprise of everyone in the room.
**********************
As they materialized at the top floor, Jerry stared at Matthew with wide eyes for sometime before finally speaking; "Was that a teleportation device?"
"Yes" Matthew affirmed.
"How--" Jerry began before being cut off by Matthew's reply;
"I got it at the market base for a good price"
"Uh....right.." a glint of doubt appeared in Jerry's eyes as he stared at Matthew for some time, only to sigh in resignation when he sensed that Matthew was not willing to talk about it.
"I don't see the reason why we came here, because senior Sabrina would've already caught up to that thief" Melissa said while resting on the wall.
"I agree" Jerry nodded as he spoke; "That guy may seem tough to mere humans, but he is nothing to a mutant"
As Jerry finished speaking, the elevator facing them suddenly opened it's door. As they all stared in expectation, a young man jumped and somersaulted into the passageway.
_''He made it to the top floor?!''_ Jerry was surprised as he saw Tisane whom was in front of them.
_''How did he get here so fast?!''_ Jerry was about to contact Sabrina through his bracelet when Matthew spoke; "It seems we've underestimated you kid"
Jerry watched and listened as Tisane replied to their interrogations. He was so annoyed and irritated by Tisane's rationality that he found himself cursing and refuting Tisane's statements continuously.
''_This guy is hopeless, I wonder how he was able to get this far''_ Jerry was amusingly shocked at Tisane's stupidity.
But he was less concerned, as he could already sense Sabrina coming through the elevator. As she attacked, Jerry was once again surprised at Tisane's quick reflexes being displayed in the way Tisane tried to dodge her attack.
Jerry was not surprised by Sabrina's vicious character, because it was something that he had experienced personally. Even if she killed Tisane, he was not bothered, after all as mutants, they were given great privileges over ordinary humans.
As a mutant Jerry had come to understand that the life of an ordinary human was as lowly as that of an animal. So humans were never regarded with any value by mutants, thereby resulting to Jerry's perspective.
But then, again and again, Jerry was shocked as to how stubborn and tenacious this human boy was. Tisane was able to resist them perfectly well, no matter how they came at him.
Jerry was beginning to wonder if the boy standing before them was not who they thought he was. Tisane began to display strength and resilience that was not befitting of any human being.
_''What is he....a mutant?!''_
Jerry was becoming greatly terrified as he, Sabrina and Melissa ganged up to take Tisane down. Their combined efforts would have been more than enough to challenge Matthew, who was very much stronger than them!
But now, a random kid that they just met was putting so much pressure on them, even when it was three of them against one. But the longer they fought, the more Jerry began to sense something.
An aura that was very much familiar. It was the aura of a mutant.
He knew that this aura was not from Sabrina or Melissa who was fighting alongside him. This aura was much more thicker.
Even thicker than the one emanating from Matthew, and much more oppressive. His eyes gradually widened as he began to suspect where it was emanating from.
The three of them were suffering greatly against Tisane whom was already turning his defense to attack. Jerry had only seen such terrifying reflexes from their seniors from the mutant school.
These seniors were all at the top grade level and were monsters in fighting. Yet from a random kid, the same oppressive fighting power was witnessed!
But this doesn't add up, if there truly was a mutant of such strength and caliber here, he would have been picked up by the mutant scouter long ago. If also, Tisane was a mutant that already belonged to the mutant school, their mutant notifier GPS would have alerted them of his presence.
_''So who the heck was this kid?!''_
As Jerry was trying to settle his thoughts, he was given a rude awakening as Melissa was put of commission in the fight; which meant that he was next. Try as he may, he couldn't land a single blow on Tisane.
It was like fighting a ghost!
Whereas, Jerry felt his body being torn apart by punches from Tisane. As a heavy blow from Tisane landed on his chest, Jerry felt his body follow the laws of motion as he was sent flying.
Before he crashed heavily to the floor, Jerry made a final conclusion;
_''No doubt, this guy is definitely a mutant''_
