Davis! All of them recognized him in shock. Was this not the poor twerp that they all bullied and looked down upon. How could he now be this Mr Chen; that they all know is the heir to the Chen's family group of companies.
They were all silent, not sure of what to say; as Davis joined them in the dining room.
"Sorry for the delay, I promise to be brief so I won't take up any more of your time". They all braced themselves for the worst, hearing Davis talk so casually and cooperate. Davis revelled in watching the expression of fright running down their faces. 'Humbling' he thought.
The dominant emotion that filled Rita up was regret, how could she have been so stupid to mock and belittle the very person that is now having everyone on edge.
"I am going to make this short and simple. Mr Williams, I'm here to inform you that; my industry is no longer interested in partnering up with your campaign" Davis said simply as he had stated he would.
The mayor was speechless as he was sure there was nothing that he would say that would change Davis' mind. After all, he went too far and crossed a line by threatening to have him expelled.
His wife on the other hand thought she could be more persuasive. "Whatever my husband has done to warrant such an action from him, I beg your pardon. He's a good man" she pleaded.
"A good man wouldn't pick on someone just because they are poor. But if he is as you say then I'm sure he would be able to gain favour towards others and bounce back from this, but if not... Either way I guess you've learnt your lesson" Davis said then left. 'Yep that was certainly humbling' he thought to himself. As he left them to ponder what just happened.
Before he went back to his shabby dorm. He went to the building site of his new restaurant, to see how it was going, and to also check on the renovations of his hotel. Impressed with what he saw and how fast everything was progressing; he decided to call it a night.
He got back to his dorm but when he got inside, he saw what he didn't expect. Rita was on his bed wearing just her underwear. He acted like he didn't see her and went to drop his keys in his drawer.
"Hey babe, did you miss me?" she asked, as seductive as she could make her voice go.
"What the hell are you doing in my room" he knew he had given her a spare key. But he expected her to have gotten rid of it after she broke up with him.
"Awwn, come on baby don't tell me that you're still mad at me" she said and tried massaging his shoulders, but he hit her hand off.
"A poor boy, a twerp, a clout chaser and worse, you even cheated on me. There was nothing that you didn't do to break my heart. But that just showed me the kind of person you are"
"Giovanni forced me into saying all those things. Baby you know that I would have never done any of those if it was by my will" she said and tried pouting. But all Davis felt was disgust. 'How low could a person get' he thought. "You look tired, how about we go and have a bath," Rita said.
Davis got fed up. "And you wondered why I called you a prostitute," he muttered. He knew she didn't like that word, so he was certain that was going to make her leave.
She felt the urge to slap him just like before when he called her a prostitute, but she knew better. "It's not over between us Davis; I won't let you go just like that" Rita said then wore her robe and stormed off.
Feeling tired, Davis just crashed on his bed and fell asleep.

NEXT DAY
Davis woke up to the dinging sound of his phone. It was an alert that his account has just been credited with ten million dollars, as part of his share from the profit that his industry made from yesterday. Davis was impressed but not satisfied with not knowing how his company was able to raise up to that amount in one day. So he decided to attend the board meeting to find out more about his company and about how it operates.
He got out of bed and did his morning routine, which was occasionally in the pattern. He would clean his room, brush his teeth, then hit the showers. He wasn't fond of having breakfast so he skipped it as usual.
He entered his new car and drove down to the industry. He loved seeing how masons were already working on his restaurant, even that early in the morning. He could already be seen on newspaper shops and on electronic billboards; his face on the front covers boldly shown, with the headlines being; Davis Chen, heir to the Chens fortune rises up to, to even be able to withdraw his partnership with the mayor. "I am no longer known as the poor clout chaser but now, the word now knows me as Mr Chen, heir to the Chens group of companies'' he said to himself.
He arrived at his office. Everyone was surprised to see him, and he wasn't the way they expected, he could tell by their whispers;
** Is that the new CEO, he's too young to be a CEO
** I didn't expect him to be here today
** I heard that he just stopped his partnership with the mayor
** He is so hot, do you think he dates blondes?
He shrugged all their words and went into the board meeting... He leant some stuff through the board and their meeting. But he figured if he was to get better acquainted with the industry, he should meet the founder of all the Chens companies. So after giving it much thought, he picked up his phone and called his butler. Mr Roland picked on the first ring.
"What may I do for you today young master"
"Mr Roland, I want to meet my grandfather, can you make it happen?" he asked.
"Your grandfather is a very busy man. I'll let him know about your request and whenever he is able to meet with you, I'll let you know" Mr Roland said.
"Thank you," Davis said and hung up.
Five minutes later, Mr Roland called back. Davis picked it almost immediately.
"I've talked with your grandfather, he was thrilled at the idea of meeting you, that he cancelled all his appointments for today," Mr Roland said.
"Thanks Mr Roland. Can you send me his address, so I can drive there now"
"Sure thing young master. And it's nice to hear that you finally have a car" his butler said then hung up which just left Davis smiling at the other side... Soon Mr Robert sent the address then Davis drove down to the Chens manor.
The gates automatically opened as he approached it. And he drove in. He got to the door and wondered if he should knock. He decided that it would be best if he knocked and so he did. Immediately the door opened.
"Darling, you don't have to knock, feel free to come in any time, '' Ursula said as she opened the door. "Come on Grandpa Chen wants you to join us for breakfast" she added, and led the way to their dining room. Davis felt lucky that he chose to skip breakfast or else he would have ended up bloated.
"Davis my, you've really grown" Grandpa Chen exclaimed, when Davis reached the dining room. And motioned for Davis to sit down close to him. He looked at the two males who were also at the dining with Ursula and Grandpa Chen, who must be his half brothers. He thought. And sat down beside his grandfather.
"So Davis tell me about yourself" grandpa Chen asked wanting to know what he didn't really already know about Davis.
"There's nothing much to tell. I was poor and now I'm rich. I can do things now that I could only dream of doing before" Davis said briefly.
"I already know about all that. After Roland and I found you we had to do a thorough background check to make sure it was really you who is to be heir".
"Well did you know that the shirt he's putting on, I'm the one who picked it out for him. It's gorgeous isn't it?'' Ursula said really proud of her work.
Grandpa Chen and Davis just smiled in amusement."I'll tell you what Davis, I am well advanced in age and frankly I am tired of working, and hope to retire soon" knowing where this conversation was going, Brendon and jude got so upset. "On the other hand you are a vibrant and hardworking man. I plan on handing over the Chen group of companies to you after you get married."
"That's outrageous! The company should be mine" Brendon protested.
"Brendon, you know how the story went down, and know that Davis is the rightful heir..." Before Chen could finish his sentence Brendon walked away feeling cheated.
"Don't worry about him, he will get over it," Grandpa Chen said.
"You said you would hand over the companies to me if I get married, who will marry?" Davis asked, feeling intrigued Grandpa Chen smiled. "My good Lee is the one who owns the bank. He has a granddaughter, named Ming; a really nice lady. We have discussed for a while about how beneficial it would be if the two of you got married."
"Sure" Davis jumped at the idea. After what happened with him and Rita he doesn't believe that he is capable of loving again, so the best thing for him would be an arranged marriage. Besides, isn't this how most rich people get married? "When can I meet her?" He asked.
"She's in china but fortunately for you she's flying to Brooklyn today, in fact if you hurry there now you might be able to meet her or you could just wait and meet her some other time" Grandpa Chen said leaving it all up to Davis to decide.
Davis thought that if he wasn't going to fall in love with her at the end, then there was no need to wait for anything. Besides since he doesn't have classes today there was nothing for him to do with the rest of the day; so he decided to go and see the so-called Ming." I'll go and see her. Thanks for the breakfast by the way" He said then left in a hurry.
When the sound of his engine reved, Ursula looked out the Windows and saw Davis drive off.``Good to know that Davis took my advice and got himself a car. And I must say the car is neat, '' Ursula remarked. Driven by his love for cars Jude was compelled to also look out the window.
His current fascination on seeing Davis' car temporarily overcame his hatred for Davis; "woah! That is the current model of the Shelby Cobra, there are one nine of those in the world" he exclaimed.
"That's not true, there are over millions of cars in the world" Ursula said, then Jude frowned when he realised that no one presently in the room understands what he was talking about, or even shared his love for cars so he went to go and find his brother Brendon who has similar interests with him.
*****
Davis drove quickly to the airport, the plane had already but he hoped that Ming hadn't left the airport. He didn't know what she looked like so he knew it would be hard finding her. But his attention was swiftly drawn when he heard someone say "right this way Miss Ming '' the person that said it looks like a bodyguard.
When his eyes set on Mings a warm smile crept on her face. Her father had also briefed her about his intention for her to get married to Davis, just the way Grandpa Chen had also told Davis the same. And seeing him now, he isn't bad looking, in fact he is the completely opposite of bad looking.
Her face seemed so familiar to Davis, that her sweet innocent smile, it's like he has seen it before. That's it! about a year ago. He was running late for a delivery, under the heavy rain. He was riding his scooter as fast as possible to meet up for his delivery. He was about to cross the road then he got hit by the side of a car, fell down, and his delivery got ruined.
Immediately the car came to an abrupt stop, and Ming stepped out of the back seat wearing an innocent smile on her face.``are you okay?" she asked and tried to help him up, but he pushed her away from him. "If you're mad about your goods, I can replace them." She offered.
"Stay away from me, okay! I don't want anything from you. You rich people are all the same, you don't care about people like me" he said while seething.
"That's not true. Tell me where you're going, maybe I can drop you off" she said politely.
"Just get lost damn it" he said and hit the floor vehemently, then out of fright she slowly walked back into her car and drove off.
Looking back at it now he actually realised that she had the purest of intentions. When he saw her he paused for a brief moment to admire her.
And she was beautiful. She had thick long black hair. Her breasts were full and well rounded, and her body was well curved like a vase. She looked Chinese because her father was from China but her mother is an American.
Rita was beautiful no doubt but Ming had her beat zero to ten.
Davis believed that it is impossible for him to love again, but he found himself admiring Ming's features. Is that the first step of attraction, or is it just plain modesty…
