Chapter 10 One-Meter Distancing Rule

It took Frank a good six minutes just to point out Eddison's living habits. During the briefing, Frank was worried that Caroline would make a scene.

After all, it was a great honor for a woman to be able to get close to Eddison. Now that Caroline had already moved in but was prohibited from getting close to him, how would she not make a fuss about it?

However, Caroline did not kick up a fuss or express any dissatisfaction. After listening to Frank, she said softly, "Frank, I've taken note of what you have said. I won't trouble Mr. Zellweger."

It had always been Eddison who was making a pass at her since that fateful night. She never took the initiative to get close to him. Now, knowing that he had so many quirks and didn't like it when people approached him, she felt relieved.

As soon as they finished their conversation, Eddison's voice sounded from the second floor, saying, "You, come upstairs."

Caroline was not sure if he was calling for her. However, seeing that his eyes were locked on her face all the time, she walked upstairs.

Frank gave her the knowing look during the whole process, reminding her to remember what he had said and not infuriate Eddison.

Caroline thought that unless Eddison took the initiative to approach her, she would never be the one to get close to him!

After she went upstairs, Eddison asked her, "What's your job?"

"Branding," Caroline answered honestly.

"Come in and help me with the documents."

Caroline was rendered speechless. She figured the work that he brought home must be of great importance. Why was he willing to show it to her instead of being on guard?

"Mr. Zellweger, I'm sleepy. I think I'm going back to my room to rest." She declined his request as she did not want to be involved in his life.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she turned around, he dragged her back into the room. Then, he grasped her shoulders forcefully and made her sit on the sofa next to his desk.

Caroline blinked her eyes, confusion as clear as day on her face. Didn't he dislike having close contact with women? What about the one-meter distancing rule?

After that, he took a pile of documents and put them in front of her. "These documents must be reviewed before you go to bed tonight."

"I'm not your secretary or assistant!" Caroline frowned.

"It doesn't matter. You're living here for free now. How can you not contribute anything at all?"

Upon hearing that, Caroline gave in and said, "Fine, I'll review them, but I'm not responsible for the results."

"Just tell me the pros and cons after you've finished reading them. I'll decide on the rest," Eddison said.

Caroline withdrew her gaze and moved her chair one meter away from him. Only then did she begin to study the documents carefully.

"Why is she sitting so far away from me? Does she think I'm a monster or something?" Eddison thought with his eyebrows furrowed.

The first document Caroline reviewed was from the planning department. The Zellweger Group was a huge business company. Although Caroline was in the branding industry, there was nothing she could have a say in.

In addition, there were also documents sent by other subsidiary companies and from the sales department. Caroline was surprised that he would let her review documents from the sales department as it was the core department of a company. She shifted her gaze toward Eddison, her face full of doubts.

What she saw was Eddison staring intently at the computer screen. However, he did not seem to be in the middle of anything serious. Caroline felt slightly annoyed. How could he instruct a pregnant woman to work while he himself was browsing things unrelated to work?

She had to check what he was looking at!

Just when she leaned in closer to him, Eddison exited the web page swiftly. Caroline became more convinced that he was browsing some shady websites.

Caroline curled her lips into a sneer, saying, "Mr. Zellweger, since it's your job, it's up to you whether to do it or not. I won't work for you. Anyway, I can't afford to be held responsible for the fate of Zellweger Group."

After slamming the documents of the sales department on his desk, she turned around and left.

She left in cold determination with her thin, slender body. Eddison stroked his perfectly-shaped chin and delved deep into his own thoughts. After a long time, he shifted his gaze back to the computer screen.

He restored the previous web page. On the search bar, it showed, "What should pregnant women drink before going to bed?"

......

Meanwhile, in her bedroom, Caroline felt exhausted. After taking a shower, she changed into her pajamas and was ready to hit the sack.

At this time, Beryl knocked on the door. Caroline went to open the door and asked, "What's the matter, Beryl?"

"Miss Simons, Mr. Zellweger asked me to prepare some soup for you. Which one do you prefer, mushroom soup or pumpkin soup?"

Not knowing which soup Caroline would prefer, Eddison had asked Beryl to prepare two different kinds of soup, in case one of them was not to her taste.
