Chapter 11 Let Him Wait!

However, exhaustion did not always lead to a night of good sleep. Caroline, who had been grappling with insomnia for several days, was worried that she would have trouble sleeping that night as well.

Therefore, she was glad that Beryl had brought her soup. She took it over without hesitation and said, "I'll take the mushroom soup then. Thank you, Beryl!"

Unexpectedly, Caroline had a good night's sleep.

Just when she woke up the next morning and was going to wash up, her mobile phone rang. It was Loraine.

Caroline narrowed her eyes. After a brief silence, she answered the phone as she wanted to hear what Loraine had to say.

"Caroline? When are you going downstairs? Tyler has been waiting for you downstairs for some time. Don't you feel sorry for him?" Loraine said in a soft and pitiful tone.

Caroline walked toward the window to have a look. Sure enough, she saw Tyler standing downstairs with a folder in his hand. She figured he must be here to persuade her to file for their divorce.

Tyler had probably informed his parents after waiting for a long time. Hence, Loraine was asked by his parents to give her a call.

Otherwise, knowing Loraine's true colors, Caroline knew she would not have spoken to her in such a disgusting tone!

The corners of Caroline's mouth lifted as she said, "I just got up, and I might take more than half an hour to wash up. Since the weather is not too hot, it should not be a big deal for him to wait outside."

After hanging up the phone, Caroline made her way to the bathroom with a smile on her face.

Forty minutes had passed when she finally went downstairs. She had assumed that Eddison had gone to work. Surprisingly, she found him sitting on the sofa in the living room and reading a financial magazine.

"You're finally up. Did you sleep well last night?" Eddison was the first to speak.

"Um... It was fine," replied Caroline.

"You'd better get up earlier next time. If you are not awake by eight o'clock, I'll have to wake you up. It's not good for the baby if you have breakfast too late."

Caroline stopped in her tracks at that instant. It immediately came to her that he only cared about the baby instead of her. Why should she pay heed to his concern about her getting breakfast or not?

She didn't say a word and went straight to the dining room, planning to make some breakfast for herself. Yet, she was greeted with a wide spread of breakfast on the dining table. There were pancakes, sandwiches, toast, and cereal.

Beryl said with a grin, "We are not sure of your food preferences, Miss Simons. Therefore, Mr. Eddison told us to prepare a variety of food so that you could choose."

Caroline was stunned that it was arranged by Eddison.

"Beryl, please convey my gratitude to Mr. Eddison." Then, Caroline sat down and started to have her breakfast.

Knowing full well that Tyler was still waiting outside, she did not mind wasting more time.

After breakfast, she spent another half an hour wiping her mouth before walking out calmly.

Eddison was still in the living room. When he saw her, he stood up and said, "Someone is looking for you. Since you were still sleeping and having breakfast, Frank asked him to wait outside."

"Frank? If it wasn't instructed by him, Frank would never have asked Tyler to wait outside!" Caroline thought, not convinced of Eddison's remark.

"Frank, didn't someone wish to visit us just now? Who was it? Check if he is still there. If he is, please invite him in," said Eddison.

"Sure, Mr. Eddison."

"Hang on. Go and prepare a pair of shoes and a change of clothes for him," Eddison ordered.

When Tyler finally saw the door open, he immediately stepped forward. Just as he was about to ask if he could enter the house, Frank spoke first, "Mr. Long, Mr. Eddison invited you in."

Tyler breathed a sigh of relief. Caroline was finally willing to spare time for him.

When he came to meet Caroline earlier, Frank had told him that Caroline was not awake yet. Initially, he wanted to go home first and come back later. However, Eddison insisted him to wait outside, saying that Caroline would wake up anytime.

Therefore, he kept on waiting. In the end, an hour and a half had passed before he could finally see her.

"D*mn it!" Tyler cursed inwardly. Sooner or later, he would let her have a taste of her own medicine!
