Chapter 16

"Take out the trash, Jacinta," mom said sternly and pointedly stared at me.

I groaned in annoyance, "Why can't Mason or dad do it?" I asked.

"Because Mason is your big brother, he has important things to do and your dad went for a run in the forest, now go do it!" That was the last straw, I could see it when I glanced at my mom one last time as I went and got the trash from the kitchen and saw Mason descending the stairs.

"I'll throw the trash," Mason said calmly and came over to me to grab it, but I pulled it back.

"It's okay, I will do the trash myself," I said and opened the front door.

"I said I'll do it," Mason hissed and went for the bag again, but I pulled it back more.

"No chance," I said and smirked.

He rolled his eyes, tightly shut them, took a long inhale and exhale, and then shrugged and walked away. I watched him go up the stairs with both my eye brows raised in confusion.
