Chapter 5: Fury

Gu Han cast a disdainful glance at her petite face, the woman's smile seeming particularly incongruous amidst her surroundings.

His gaze remained cold as he continued to approach, almost pinning her between himself and the car.

Gently, he raised his hand to brush away the wet strands clinging to her face, the depths of his dark eyes harboring a chilling smirk. "Why not stay quietly at the Yushan Villa? In the eyes of the city, even the most powerful figures cannot reach out there—"

"Why did you run away?" he interjected.

Gu Han towered so high that Liang Shu had to tilt her head back to meet his gaze.

She clenched her fingers, trying to ignore the hand lingering on her face. "I can wait, but others can't."

His eyes narrowed, exuding a coldness from every corner.

That knuckle-bare hand had silently encircled her delicate neck, with a slow tightening grip.

As the rain intensified, the sound of droplets pelting against the umbrella grew louder.

Liang Shu lowered her gaze, following Gu Han's arm, noticing that his entire shoulder was drenched.

"Pleasing me won't take more than a blink of an eye from those two companions of yours. Did you really need to climb over the wall to come to the rescue?" he sneered.

With that, Gu Han tightened his grip further, watching as her brows furrowed gradually, a perverse pleasure fleeting through his heart. "You made a deal with me. If my person dies, none of you will survive."

"To you, that million is merely a drop in the ocean. I found you this time, and I can find someone else next time. But if you anger me, you won't even have the chance to consider financial transactions with anyone else in the future."

At this moment, Liang Shu suddenly realized why he was so furious.

That woman who had been in a deep slumber must have encountered some trouble.

She felt the air in her throat thinning, a constant buzzing in her ears. She didn't even doubt that Gu Han might strangle her.

But she was afraid of dying.

Ji Chen had been silently observing at first, but when he noticed Liang Shu's deteriorating complexion, he intervened, "Sir, Miss Su is still waiting for you."

At his words, Gu Han abruptly released his grip, a cold smirk playing on his lips. "I hope Miss Liang won't have any further dealings with me, Gu Han. Otherwise, the next time won't be as easy."

With a renewed lease on life, Liang Shu leaned against the car door, unable to suppress the coughs, her expression growing colder.

In Gu Han's eyes, her blood was worth even more.

Nevertheless, even if she were to sell herself to anyone in the future, she would never turn to Gu Han.

...

She had only gone out to deliver money to save a life, but she never expected to incur Gu Han's wrath.

On this rainy night, the winding mountain road seemed even darker without the glow of streetlights.

Yet, the black phantom sped along like a released arrow.

Liang Shu sat in the passenger seat, fingers tightly gripping the seatbelt. The tension in her body was so taut that it could snap at any moment.

Gu Han was driving like a man possessed, his speed so intense that every bend in the road saw the steering wheel almost hitting its limits. His jawline was clenched, the angular contours of his profile exuding indifference.

Liang Shu's stomach churned, feeling like she might vomit if this continued.

Suddenly, a deep blue lightning bolt streaked across the sky accompanied by a deafening roar, tearing through the dark firmament and vanishing on the horizon.

"Ah—"

His speed was too fast, and with the recent lightning strike, Liang Shu felt as though her soul had momentarily left her body.
