Going Into The Mountain Again (Part 1)

Although the night was coming it was still bright enough, so she didn't need to light up the lamps.

Liang Hongyu carried the pot of chicken soup from the kitchen.

She had a bowl of egg soup before heading out in the morning and had eaten some fruit in the mountains, but she was already hungry.

Although the chicken soup didn't look very appealing, it tasted quite good, and it wasn't long before the two of them had finished it all.

Huo Tianzhou who has been hungry for a long time, found the chicken soup quite delicious even without rice.

After finishing the last sip, he realized something and paused for a few seconds before getting up to clean the dishes.

Although he didn't show it, Liang Hongyu could tell that he wasn't full.

Liang Hongyu never imagined that she would one day worry about having enough food to feed a growing boy.

And so, she began to worry.

What would they eat for breakfast tomorrow?

Had the two old hens laid any eggs today?

Liang Hongyu used to be able to eat her fill without worrying about others, even during the apocalypse.

Now, the issue of food felt like an insurmountable challenge.

After worrying for a few seconds, she got up and went for a walk to aid digestion.

The backyard had a mud wall, and on one side, there was a wooden enclosure specifically for bathing.

By the time they had both finished their baths, it was completely dark.

Next to the main room, there was a small room that Huo Tianzhou used to live in when he was a child.

After he moved to his current room, this small room was used for storing miscellaneous items.

Liang Hongyu was too lazy to tidy it up now, so she found a bamboo mat in Huo Tianzhou's room and laid it out on the floor of the main room.

She stepped outside and closed the door.

The pitch-black room fell silent.

Huo Tianzhou lay flat on his back, staring at the indistinct lights of the ceiling.

His eyes that was reflecting the scattered light, flickered in the darkness, his emotions complicated.

Too much had happened in the family over the past few years.

Since Liang Hongyu moved in, she has been very busy.

Although Huo Tianzhou hadn't had the chance to really get to know her, he had a basic understanding of her.

Liang Hongyu's behavior after waking up today was somewhat strange.

At the time, he worried it might be a lingering illness from a cold.

But from her subsequent actions, it seemed that wasn't the case.

It wasn't unheard of for a person's temperament to change after a serious illness, but in Liang Hongyu's case, the strangeness couldn't be explained away by this reason alone.

The more he thought about it, the more unsettled he felt.

He tilted his ear towards the door, carefully listening to the sounds outside.

After maintaining this position for a while and not hearing anything, he quietly got up and walked to the door.
