Am sorry sir

I looked at my ringing phone and didn't know what to do next,now if I answer it and he asks why i didn't attend the meeting or why I went missing at work? what will i answer?? and of course that is the main reason why he is calling me right now.

I was still lost in my thoughts when dad said,"hey kid ain't you going to take that phone call? or wait is it your girlfriend (winks) that you need some privacy?? okay I get it let me leave you so that you answer it.

He went back inside and the phone had also stopped ringing.I took a deep breath out and cleaned my forehead cause I was sweating really bad.

Now i was puzzled,should I call him back?? or send him a text that I can't talk now?? no oo no no sending him a text will be a dumb idea so i closed my eyes and called him back and it started ringing but I was seriously shaking plus moving back and forth in the hospital corridor.

Jees why isn't he picking up?? I was about to end the call when I heard his voice from the other end.

boss; so you decided to give yourself a leave from work after knowing that we had a very serious matter that called for an emergency meeting?? and don't try to fool me cause I saw you in the room when I came to call you and the rest of your workmates for the meeting..are you there??

This entire time I was just breathing heavily am sure he heard me cause I was restless..I just kept quiet I didn't know what to do..

boss; young man are you hearing me?? I need you here right this very moment before we close.when you reach come straight to my office hope am clear...if you fail to make it today please stay where you are and carry on with your life....he hang up

oh my God what just happened?? I sat on the bench in the corridor to calm myself down but my heart was racing...now what should i do?? I really need to get back there and secure my job,I really need it.

I first went back to the ward and opened slowly the door and saw dad bending his head down on mom's hand,I think he was also sleeping but then he lifted his head I think he heard the door.

I signalled him to come out for a second..he came and asked whats up??

I replied and told him that I had to go and pick my staff from my room before it gets late..He agreed and told me to take his car so that I don't spend much time looking for a cab..he is so cool right!??

I went and pecked mom then i headed to the parking lot to get dad's car..I sat in and started driving so I put on some music to distract my mind cause a lot of things were running through my mind.

I reached the company and parked the car but it took me more ten minutes to get out,i was still pulling myself together.

I came out of the car,put my hoodie on and headed to this guy's office,,but truth be told I didn't know where it was exactly and the only person who can help me out is that weird receptionist..look at me calling people weird when me myself am weird haha..

I approached her desk but she was busy packing her stuff since they were about to close so I coughed a bit just to get her attention..

uhm i would like you to direct me to boss' office please

her; you are kidding right?? if you want to ask me out please don't come to me with those lame talks okay??

hey am serious i don't know where it is and I need to go ther...I was still talking when someone tapped on my back and said follow me..I turned and it was him,my boss..I nearly fainted..I just followed him and I heard that girl silently murmur that weird kid.

I just kept following boss to his office and it was big with many couches inside..he went and sat in his chair and I was left standing while pocketing in my jumper,I realized he was looking at me so I removed them from the pockets..

boss; sit down young man and take off your hoodie...if you weren't hard working i have chased you from this job long time ago..you don't associate with your fellow workmates and you know very well we achieve our targets through team work..anyway that aside why did you disappear from the office today without informing anyone not even your supervisor??

I was going to answer when my phone started ringing and it was dad..I can't ignore this call,if I get fired because of picking it up then let it be...am sorry sir but I have to pick this call its my dad

I know he is pissed but I went out and closed the door..

dad: hey son good news,,doctor is from here and said we can take your mom back home she will receive the rest of the treatment from home.

ohh that's good paps..since I took your car let me wind up quickly here I come and pick you guys..tell mom I love her much...he hanged up.

I turned to go back but boss was standing behind me..I wonder when he came out..

boss; you should reduce on the volume of your phone speaker.

ohh so he heard everything

boss; come back in.

I followed him and sat back in the chair.

boss: I don't know if you were going to tell me the truth that your mom was sick earlier on when I asked you why you had left?? but since I found out by myself I have punishment for you..Tomorrow you are going to work over time..now go.

I stood up to leave when he said..oh by the way we found the thief and it was Stephen,we fired him immediately.

I just said okay and moved out,,I didn't know even this Stephen guy but thank God my job is secured now let me drive to my apartment fast.
