Chapter 145 - Shadow Monarch's Dungeon 03.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Romania.

...

...

Morou Kaind was a 30-year-old man with black hair and eyes. He often carried a serious expression as a characteristic most of the time. His eyes reflected a man who had faced thousands of battles throughout his life, despite having died relatively young.

He was a child who lost his parents fighting in a world war on a small but highly technological planet in the Outer Rim. He became an orphan. His parents met a cruel fate in that conflict, which spread across the entire planet, while he survived among other orphaned children, constantly facing the possibility of dying in an attack or bombardment by enemy ships vying for territory. No city on that world was safe at the time. All he could do was watch the destruction and feel helpless, as people begged the Guardians to end the conflict. But even after years, they never came.

One day, however, that plea was answered when the Guardians themselves arrived on the planet. These visitors ended the war not long after their arrival. Everyone feared them; no one could stand against them. Yet they weren't there specifically to fight or maintain peace.

The real reason for their presence was that they were searching for a vessel. The signal had led them to the planet by coincidence. Despite this, they arrived during a time of crisis and resolved it regardless. However, their sole objective remained: to find the child.

They went straight to the orphanage where Morou was staying with other children, ignoring any invitations from political leaders who tried to approach them. Their only goal was to speak with him.

Morou was confused when he saw these people searching for him. The woman who ran the orphanage introduced him to them, but he didn't have much choice in what would happen next. The Guardians had a secretive group within their ranks, which Morou later came to know as the Heirs of the Monarchs' Rings. However, he was unaware of this and even less so that they couldn't be replaced unless the current vessel died. Only then could a new one emerge.

They didn't introduce themselves in this way to Morou. Instead, they simply told him they had to take him. And so, he was taken, though he was afraid at first. Nevertheless, Morou knew that his future as an orphan in a post-war world wasn't very promising. Despite his fear, he felt that he might have a greater purpose. His admiration for the Guardians, who had ended the war, also made it easier for him to accept the new reality that would be imposed on him as he boarded the order's interstellar ship.

Morou was trained from childhood, receiving serums that enhanced his abilities beyond human limits. His body was transformed, making him a warrior capable of fighting machines, battling armies, and protecting the peace and order established by the rulers millions of years ago.

He was ready to begin his missions at the age of 18. He started traveling across the galaxy, completing his tasks and returning to the Guardians' hidden base. The Guardians had many enemies and acted as the galaxy's law enforcers, trying to prevent civilizations from self-destructing or losing their way. Moreover, they safeguarded a power capable of destroying the entire universe, keeping it hidden and protected by a group within the Guardians whose lifelong mission was to guard the Rings of Power.

After 12 years of fighting and strengthening his position as a Guardian of Order, something happened that changed everything: the betrayal of the very order he served, by the Heirs themselves. And he was the last to know. After all, every other Guardian knew he would never betray the foundations of the order. He had lived, bled, and died for the order.

He would never succumb to the corruption of others. Morou had proven this by refusing to betray, even if it cost him his life. And so, he died. But fate transported him to this world, into the body of Severus Snape. Now, with powers he had once feared, he faced a new reality.

He wondered why he was there at first—why come to this world without advanced technology, being a wizard with abilities he had never heard of in this galaxy? Among so many questions about why he had taken over this body, this boy who had lost his life without anyone knowing, and how, as an intruder, he revived there, he ultimately decided to embrace the power of the Dark Monarch's system. Recognizing a second chance, he decided to fight once more.

Since then, he had been using the system the ring granted him to gain more power, preparing himself to face the other six Monarchs upon leaving this world.

He knew it was a race against time. At any moment, the Monarchs could advance, destroying civilizations and dominating them, expanding their control and doing everything contrary to the principles upon which the Order had been founded.

He didn't understand their true ambitions, beyond their desire for total control of the galaxy. He didn't know if they were still his old companions, corrupted, or if it was the influence of the rings themselves that made them evil.

And he, too, had been influenced by the Shadow Monarch, but he had no choice. Snape had decided to embrace the power of darkness. It was necessary to combat evil with evil, and now he was trying to acquire more of this power here in this dungeon. What he didn't expect was to encounter his old self.

Back in the throne room, Morou raised an eyebrow while Snape was lost in thought upon seeing him. He decided to break the silence.

"Don't look at me like that, Morou. We're very different now. You've been corrupted and should feel ashamed of what you're becoming," Morou said.

But Snape remained silent, still staring at him.

At that moment, an armored figure with a sword by its side suddenly raised its blade and charged at Snape, who quickly dodged while still watching Morou. Grabbing his own sword, Snape slashed the attacker, cutting it in two.

Other armored figures advanced. Snape quickly engaged in battle, slicing through them as the mages began reviving those that had already fallen.

Meanwhile, Morou simply observed. Snape, realizing the enemies were endless, decided to deal with the mages from a distance. He pulled out his wand and vanished, reappearing behind the mages. Ignoring the strange presence of his former self, who seemed to mock him, he struck at the unsuspecting mages.

He had to deal with them before tackling the others and saving his former self for last. After all, he still retained his focus and abilities from his old missions: handle the crisis first, then investigate.

But just as he advanced and was about to kill the first mage, someone appeared in front of him before Snape could react. It was his own self—Morou.

"You're much weaker than I am," Morou said before punching Snape, who couldn't react to the speed of a Guardian's strike. The blow made him spit saliva before being hurled against the wall by the sheer force of his own self.

"Are you really this weak? Perhaps death didn't do you any favors..." Morou mocked, holding Snape's wand, which he had taken before Snape could advance. Around them, the soldiers stood on alert.

Snape pulled himself off the wall, his expression serious, with a streak of blood running down his face as he spat more blood. He had lost his wand, but he still gripped his sword firmly, refusing to release it even as Morou tried to wrest it from him.

"I wonder... this is a strange ability they have in this world: magic. It could even be useful to the Order. Some rather interesting tricks, according to your memory, although they're weak in battle, never surpassing weapons of mass destruction. But they certainly have their uses," Morou admitted, still analyzing Snape's wand.

He looked at Snape once more and seemed to remember something. Snapping his fingers, Snape suddenly felt the system disappear. He could no longer access his inventory or status.

"You didn't think I'd make things easy for you, did you?" Morou said with a sarcastic tone.

Snape had a dark expression. This version of himself had even canceled his escape from this place; after all, the stone that could have taken him out was there. He would have to advance on his own.

"So, I'll have to face him," Snape remarked, gripping his sword tightly.

"Exactly," Morou responded, drawing two daggers, the official weapons he had used before his death. "Do you remember these? You even replaced them with a sword. I wonder if you are still worthy of being Guardian Morou. And do you really want to take this power you're seeking here? Will it be for the good of the universe, or will you become worse than the other Monarchs?"

Morou spoke again as arrows began flying toward Snape. He skillfully dodged, twisting his body to avoid the projectiles. Besides Morou, the soldiers were also trying to kill him.

Snape observed as the crowd began to close in. The mages he had targeted started retreating to the rear, continuing to resurrect the fallen soldiers, perpetuating the endless cycle.

Snape simply took a deep breath and narrowed his eyes.

'There's no other way... If I must face you, my old self, then so be it. I will do it,' he declared, while Morou nodded.

"Very well. Prove to me that you truly desire this, or die right here. After all, it would be better for the Shadow Monarch's power to be lost in the universe. At least it would remain hidden for a while, out of the other Monarchs' hands," Morou said, his gaze serious.

"And you think that will stop them for long? Such nonsense," Snape mocked before swiftly charging forward.

Arrows flew toward him, but he dodged them all and headed straight for Morou, who stood in his path. Snape's sword lunged forward, clashing against Morou's daggers, which crossed in an X shape to block the attack. The force of the collision unleashed a shockwave throughout the room. Snape was no longer holding back.

It wasn't just Morou he was fighting. The surrounding soldiers also attacked, aiming to strike him. Snape maneuvered his body to evade their blows while sliding his sword diagonally along their blades to escape their strikes. At the same time, he skillfully attacked Morou, defending himself with his sword and responding to each strike with quick counterattacks. Arrows continued raining from all directions.

"You really think you're stronger now? Let me tell you something, Snape: you're weak—much weaker than you were before. I could defeat you myself," Morou said, advancing.

He managed to graze Snape's face with his red dagger, the blade missing a deeper cut by mere millimeters. Blood trickled down, but Snape didn't stop and continued fighting.

"You're just like them. A corrupted being who has become a murderer. You're losing yourself more and more the further you absorb this power. You are no longer the person you used to be," Morou continued, striking repeatedly and opening small cuts on Snape's skin.

Snape was struggling but managed to withstand the pressure. Finally, he found an opening when Morou attempted an attack from the right.

Gripping the sword's hilt with both hands, Snape delivered a diagonal strike from above. Morou blocked with one dagger, but with the other, a white blade, he thrust directly toward Snape's heart. The blow landed squarely, forcing Snape to stumble and fall like a ragdoll as blood gushed out.

He rolled on the ground and got up, clutching his chest with one hand.

"You managed to dodge at the last second. Clever. But it's still not good enough," Morou remarked, staring at Snape.

But a smile appeared on Snape's face. Even bleeding, he looked at his adversaries with confidence. He then raised his hand—the one not holding the sword—and revealed his wand.

"He got it?" Morou murmured, surprised. "That attack... it was just a distraction, and he allowed himself to be struck to recover the wand..." he concluded, glancing back at Snape, who held the wand firmly.

"Indeed, I am no longer you. And perhaps I've changed a lot. But now, I have new tricks," Snape said.

He quickly cast a spell that created a cloud of smoke, which spread rapidly throughout the room. Morou and the other knights were enveloped in the thick mist that filled the throne room.

Suddenly, an electric current began coursing through the smoke.

"Fulminatum Finis!" Snape declared firmly.

In the next moment, the entire area was struck by bolts of lightning, hitting Morou and all the soldiers around him.
