Revised version

The elder stood there, his eyes wide with disbelief. The figure he had been pressuring so relentlessly, Mo Fan, had vanished into thin air, leaving no trace behind. The stillness of the forest mocked him, the only sound his own rapid breathing. His brows furrowed in frustration as he extended his senses, desperately trying to locate even the faintest hint of the young man's presence. But there was nothing. No trace, no fluctuation of life. It was as if the boy had been swallowed by the very shadows around them.

A possibility struck him, and his eyes widened in realization. "Is it a Shadowstride Scroll of the highest-tier Horizon path?" he wondered aloud, the very notion sending a shiver down his spine. But he quickly shook his head, dismissing the thought as impossible. "No, that's impossible. Even for our sect, a Shadowstride Scroll is like a treasure beyond measure. Only those skilled in space techniques can create one."

The elder's face twisted in frustration as he tried to piece together the puzzle. The power and rarity of a Shadowstride Scroll were legendary, each tier offering an unimaginable advantage to its bearer.

Shadowstride Scrolls:

Basic Path: Teleportation range of 10 miles.

Wandering Path: Teleportation range of 50 miles.

Horizon Path: Teleportation range of 100 miles.

After a moment, he pressed his fingers against his forehead, his expression tightening. "No," he murmured, as if trying to push away the thoughts plaguing his mind. "I shouldn't delve deeper into this." His eyes darkened, a deadly intent flashing across his face. "But mark my words, the next time I see you, I will surely kill you, kid." His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper as he turned to leave. "I hope he doesn't become an unwanted variable in this grand scheme."

Meanwhile, Mo Fan found himself tumbling through the endless void, his body wracked with unimaginable pain. The space around him twisted and churned, a chaotic storm of energy that threatened to tear him apart.

[Error! Error! … Error!!]

The system's voice echoed in Mo Fan's mind, laced with urgency and fear. It was a tone he had never heard before, one that sent a chill down his spine.

"Aaaaah!!! Argh!!" Mo Fan cried out, the pain searing through him like wildfire.

[Detected that host's current cultivation cannot handle void turbulence. Expanding more energy] The system's voice cut through the haze of agony, its tone sharper now, almost frantic.

[Increasing energy output 40%... 50%... 75%... 93%...]

Mo Fan's vision blurred as he was tossed around like a ragdoll, the void tearing at his very essence. Time lost all meaning—days, months, years—it all blurred into one long, torturous journey. Just when he thought he could endure no more, a blinding vortex of white energy appeared before him, swirling with unstoppable force. It enveloped him entirely, pulling him from the clutches of the void.

[Reporting: Host has reached a safe location]

Mo Fan barely registered the system's words as he felt himself crashing into solid ground. Pain flared up anew, and he groaned as he tried to move.

"Argh! My entire body hurts... Just what kind of emergency plan—" He was cut off by a sudden wave of nausea, and he doubled over, vomiting violently. His vision swam as he wiped his mouth, his mind struggling to make sense of what had just happened. "Now what?" he muttered to himself, uncertainty gnawing at him.

"Hey, system, where am I?" Mo Fan asked, his voice barely steady.

[Error! Error!!]

Panic surged through him as the system's repeated errors echoed in his mind. "Hey, hey, hey! System, what's going on?" His voice was tinged with both fear and confusion, his heart pounding in his chest.

[Host, listen carefully], the system's voice came again, deeper this time, filled with a gravity that made Mo Fan's blood run cold.

"Okay," Mo Fan whispered, his fear mounting.

[Host, the system will shut down in a few minutes], the system said, its tone grim.

"What?!" Mo Fan's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean by that?" His voice trembled as the weight of the situation began to sink in. The system was his lifeline, his guide in this foreign, hostile world. Without it, he was as good as dead.

The air around him seemed to grow colder, the darkness pressing in from all sides. Mo Fan's breath quickened as he waited for the system's response, but the silence that followed was deafening. The ground beneath him felt unstable, as if the very world he had been thrust into was on the brink of collapsing.

He had been thrown into an unknown world, stripped of his safety net, and left at the mercy of forces beyond his comprehension. The system's imminent shutdown was more than just a loss—it was a death sentence.
