16 Chapter 16: Samba Got Admission
"Yes, that's what's been delaying me."
Samba took a deep breath and said, "Sir, I'm going to transfer the amount into your account now so you can go back to work."
Mr. Williams was amazed, surprised, and happy. "Samba, do you mean you have 500k in your account that you can lend to me?"
"Yes," she replied, declaring her intention to transfer the funds directly into his account, insisting that it was a gift rather than a loan.
Mr. Williams was deeply grateful and inquired about the origins of her savings.
Samba explained, "Well, it was from the annual payments you always give me, sir. I also invested the money so it would be useful in the future. I made up my mind, since the first year I received my payment, that I would save for future use."
Mr. Williams marveled at Samba's financial wisdom and foresight, blessing her with a prayer for a prosperous future.
As Samba requested his account details, Mr. Williams promptly shared them, and she completed the transfer.
Seeing the transaction, Mr. Williams was overwhelmed with gratitude. He expressed his heartfelt thanks and prepared to return to work.
"Alright, I will go to work now," he said and left.
As he was heading to work, he called his wife and informed her about the money Samba had sent.
Mrs. Williams was also surprised when she heard it.
---
After Samba had completed her WAEC examination, she decided to assist Mrs. Williams at her shop, eager to contribute and gain experience.
As a token of appreciation, Mrs. Williams gave her a daily allowance, which Samba diligently saved for her future university expenses.
One day, Mr. Williams heard on the radio that WAEC results would be released the following week. He promptly informed Samba, who was filled with anticipation and hope.
However, upon attempting to check her results multiple times, Samba grew anxious when her results were not yet available.
Mrs. Williams encouraged Samba to check at a local café, but to no avail. Samba sought guidance from her school, where she was advised to exercise patience.
A few days later, Samba tried once more and finally discovered her results, which revealed a remarkable score of all A's.
Samba's success caught the attention of the state government, and she was awarded a scholarship, providing her with free shelter and education.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams were elated by the news and proudly congratulated Samba on her achievements.
As Samba embarked on her higher education journey at the University of Ilorin, she crossed paths with a fellow student named Joke.
Joke, a third-year Business Administration student, was in dire financial straits. One day, she was famished and had not eaten since the previous night, so she went to school in hunger.
Samba noticed that her face was dull during the lecture and approached her afterward.
"Joke, how are you doing?"
"I'm fine."
"Why does your face look so dull?"
"I'm hungry, and I don't have any food at home. I didn't eat since last night."
"Oh, I'm sorry! And you said you were fine."
Samba remembered how her friend Hannah used to help her whenever she was mistreated by her stepmother. She reached into her pocket, brought out 2k, and gave it to Joke.
Joke accepted the money gratefully and thanked Samba, showing heartfelt gratitude.
---
There was a young man named Johnson, a final-year student at the University of Ilorin.
Johnson and Joke left the school premises together. As they were walking home, they discussed Samba.
Johnson was in love with Samba, so he asked Joke about her.
"Samba is a good friend of mine. She always shows love to everyone, and she is also humble," Joke explained.
Johnson was impressed by what Joke had told him about Samba and decided to woo her.
After learning about Samba's kindness from Joke, Johnson found himself falling for her and decided to pursue her.
Johnson approached Samba the next day, expressing his feelings and desire for them to start dating.
Samba asked for some time to consider the proposal, and Johnson agreed.
The following day, after consulting a prophet, Samba accepted Johnson's advances.
As they discussed their personal lives, Johnson revealed that he worked as a driver to supplement his income, while Samba shared her focus on her studies.
Unbeknownst to Samba, Johnson was actually from a wealthy family but disguised himself as a driver to test potential partners' sincerity, as he had done with previous girlfriends.
One day, as Samba was walking under the scorching sun, Johnson's friend Jude, posing as a wealthy man, offered her a ride in his car.
Samba, aware that Johnson was supposedly the driver, accepted the offer and entered the vehicle.
During the journey, Jude requested Samba's friendship, to which she consented, and they exchanged phone numbers.
Upon arriving at Samba's hostel, she thanked Jude for the ride and departed.
Meanwhile, Johnson, still undercover as the driver, kept a close watch on the budding friendship between Samba and Jude, hoping to reveal Samba's true intentions and character.
The following day, Jude invited Samba to dinner, a proposition she accepted.
However, upon informing Johnson on the phone about the dinner, Johnson told her that it didn't mean she should go with him and that she didn't have to call him for that.
They went to a big shopping complex for dinner. As they were eating, they discussed their school, home, and more.
---
Johnson bought a gift and told Jude that he would pretend to give it to Samba, saying it was from Jude. Jude agreed with the plan.
Johnson went to Samba's hostel to present the gift, telling her that his boss, Jude, had sent it.
"Johnson, I don't know exactly why your boss is doing all this for me. I thought he wanted to woo me."
"Why would you think that? I know my boss well. He's a nice guy who loves to give gifts to his friends. If he wanted to woo you, he would have told you from the first day he met you."
"Anyway, extend my greetings to him and tell him that I appreciate the gift he sent."
"Okay, I will. I should be on my way now."
"Let me see you off," Samba said, walking out with him.
