I was half-heartedly listening to Rhea's chirping while looking out the window. My dad was at work, working off his debts, but my mum had made time for me by taking me home from the hospital. The mysterious 'something' waiting for me under the bed at home never left my thoughts. Yes, I have a guess as to what it is, but it's still not accurate.

Oh, and Yuno worries me too. She spent the whole day following me around and never came round. I'm glad she cares about me, but not that much. Besides, I've been getting hungry lately. It's not a problem, I just need to go for a walk once, but that's where the problem with Juno comes in. If she keeps following me around like this, things won't be so good.

- Hey, are you listening to me? - Rhea asked indignantly, looking into my indifferent eyes.

Yes, lately I've been walking around with that expression on my face all the time, suppressing my hormones. And frankly, I'm not interested in the people around me right now. I'll eat my mother if she bothers me, and I'll kill my father at the first opportunity. So Yuno is my salvation, but she's a bit of a mess too. One day she comes to me, the next day she's watching me through binoculars.

- I'm listening. - I replied phlegmatically, not taking my eyes off the view outside the window.

- Yukite...

- Kaneki. - I corrected her again.

- Okay, Kaneki, are you sure you're okay? - Mum asked with a hint of concern.

- I'm fine. I just haven't recovered from the shock yet. - I wrinkled my nose. - Mum, aren't you supposed to be at work?

- Oh, I cancelled. But now I've promised that next week I'll be away on a business trip for almost two weeks, but I think you and Dad can handle it. - the woman smiled.

- Aren't you going to get a divorce? - I asked with slight interest in my voice.

The answer was silence, and I couldn't see Mum's face because I was looking out the window. After a minute, Rhea spoke up:

- How long have you known?

- So you're getting a divorce after all? - I turned my head slightly, glancing at the woman. She nodded slightly. - It was a hunch I'd built up in the hospital. Since the accident, my outlook has changed a lot, as you've noticed.

- You've changed. - Mum grumbled back. - It's like you're a different person. You're even demanding a name change.

- Yes," I nodded, "it's a consequence of rethinking my life. But it took place in a very urgent mode. - I grinned, pointing my finger at my hair.

- By the way, yes! - Rhea successfully got off the subject. - I know a hairdresser who will cut your hair and colour it well!

- Who said I wanted to dye my hair? - followed by a snicker from me. - I think it looks good on me. So I'm not gonna dye it. And stay on topic. When are you getting divorced?

- At first we were gonna do it the day after tomorrow, but you had an accident.

- It doesn't matter. - I cut it off. - get divorced the day after tomorrow. The incident with me isn't that bad.

- Yu... Kaneki, I don't recognise you at all....

- You know, when you get hit by a huge truck, your temper changes a bit. - I replied snidely, staring out the window again. Hmm, this is Tokyo, so maybe we should go to the place where Anteiku should be. I wonder what's going to replace it.

I collapsed on the bed, my face on the pillow. Yeah, Mum was too clingy. She asked me practically every ten minutes if I was all right. By the end of the trip, I could barely keep myself from sending her a rude message, I hadn't been pissed off like that in a long time.

Remembering God's words, I got off the bed, looking underneath it. Underneath was nothing but a black shoebox, as it appeared to me at first. But pulling it out, I verified that the box was completely black with a single inscription on the lid.

"Property of Kaneki Ken."

Grinning, I lifted the lid..., and what I saw made me chuckle. A black mask, leaving hair and left eye open, having gums in place of a mouth with teeth without lips and a lightning bolt in the middle. A good old fashioned mask.

I stood up, walking over to the mirror and putting it on. My hair was habitually dyed black and I activated the kakugan, looking at my reflection. Yes, the good old days of hunting in Tokyo and Capital City. I didn't think the goddess would decide to give me HER specifically.

I remember this mask was destroyed when I took a shot from the First Teigu, subsequently turning into a pool of blood and evolving into the final stage of Ghoul development.

Heh, I think I know what I'm going to do for the rest of the day. It's time for a hunt!

***

I moved along the rooftops, a blurred shadow to the average person's vision, trying to pick out the scent of some lone victim. I had to tell my mum that I wanted to go for a walk after being bored in the hospital, and the woman successfully fell for that excuse.

By the way, I haven't felt Yuno for quite some time now, which means the girl went home without following me even at home. But that's even better, I didn't have to break away from her to start the hunt. Hmm, here comes a suitable prey.

I stopped on the edge of the roof of a three-story building, eyeing the lone guy walking alone in the alley. He kept glancing around, moving at an overly nervous and fast pace. Hmmm..., and there's someone following him. Male odour with a hint of blood. Some kind of maniac? No way, this victim is mine!

I released my kagune in the form of four tentacles with relish and dashed downwards, catching up with the intimidated victim and piercing his body with my kagune. Oh, it had been a long time since I had done something like this! The excitement and anticipation, the outburst of mad laughter and the grin on my face! The horror on the faces of my victims, at the sight of my masked face, with the burning scarlet eye with the black squirrel!

While I was finishing off my victim, the stalker reached us... which made me giggle nervously.

A man wearing a mask, a black hoodie and a huge hat. Also, long pink hair peeking out from underneath. Oh, and a machete, of course. Well, hello, Third. Or rather, future Third, owner of the future diary.

He caught us at an extremely opportune time. No, just picture it in his mind's eye. There's a bloody corpse of a guy lying there, a strange scarlet moving tentacle coming out of his chest, which goes into the loins of a small black-haired guy with a creepy mask and a scarlet pupil and a black squirrel. He's wearing a plain black t-shirt and dark grey shorts just below the knee and is looking at you interestedly (if you can say that about one eye with a black squirrel).

- I was just thinking about who else to eat. - I said, and the artefact mask habitually distorted the sound into a more intimidating, monster-like growl.

- AAAAAA!!!!! - screamed the glorified maniac, lunging at me with a machete.

Now for the million dollar question. Right now, killing him isn't difficult since the diary isn't there yet. However, in the future, someone else, unknown to me, will get the diary, so it's better to let the Third go, so as not to spoil the canon... But to scare him will not be superfluous.

I sharply attack with my machete kagune, not letting the man come even a few metres away. He manages to dodge, looking in horror at the truly living tentacles that have turned a piece of wall behind him into a pile of pebbles.

- And now, I'm going to eat you..." I growled snidely, but the mask missed that emotion, transforming it back into the fierce voice of a demon.

The legendary maniac of Tokyo ran away, and I didn't stop him, returning to the corpse of my original victim. I unzip my mask, and in my normal voice, unfiltered by the mask's enchantment, I speak:

- I've done this somewhere before...

***

I walked leisurely through the streets of Tokyo, fed and satisfied with my life. Every now and then people looked at me, and mostly groups of schoolgirls, sometimes even having in their memory carcasses, being the same schoolgirls with me. Well, yes, goes such a satisfied with life, grey-haired 12-year-old guy, very pleasant appearance (do not praise yourself - no one will not praise). Except that there was a rather strong problem....

The girls mostly looked at me with a very understandable interest, which was not new to me. In Tokyo TG, I got a lot of stares too, but there I was almost always accompanied by either Esdes, Touka or Hinami. The former was usually mistaken for a wife, the latter for a girlfriend, and the latter for a daughter. So it was almost always limited to envious glances, but that was absolutely not the situation now.

But that's not the problem, the problem is that girls may well die "a little" for those looks, getting stabbed in the heart a couple of times by a certain Yuno Gasai. And I don't really give a shit, but still, the shred of humanity I got from Yukiteru is demanding to go save everyone... But I don't give a shit about that shred, so I'm not going to do anything.

The next day...

So... I'm somewhat anxious. I haven't been to school since being Issei, and in the hum, going to university was abandoned literally immediately. But then again, that's not the main reason. Yuno, Yuno, Yuno, Yuno, killer of anyone who comes near me. Still, even though I don't care about the lives of those around me, there's still a little tingle in my chest.

And so now, I, with the same detached face as before, am walking through the school yard, heading to my class. The people around me are actively staring at me, a flushed Yuno is peeking out from the corner of the school, and everything is fine. I just don't like the intense gaze of one Aru Akise, with which he drills me from my entrance to the school grounds.

Actually, canon didn't lie, this guy actually has white hair from birth, if you can call Akise's creation Deus. Scarlet eyes, also present, as well as a rather attractive face for girls. Give him a scar under his left eye, and he looks like Gasper, though younger... and weaker. At least the second favourite is pumped up, not like this.

On the other hand, his love for canon GGs is a bit disconcerting to me. I'm kind of not a GG, but took his place. Deus sort of created Akise as an observer, gathering information about the owners and the future changes. However, the future has already changed, even though the game isn't there yet. My appearance, has greatly changed the entire branch of events that is looming. I had already met with the Third, though the meeting was somewhat unimportant and not carrying any particular weight on the future. However...

I sighed, walking into the classroom and sitting down at the last desk where Yukiteru was sitting. In any case, if Aru tried to approach me with unconventional intentions, his beautiful and surely delicious nose bones would be broken. My musings were interrupted, as I predicted, by classmates clustering around my desk. Hmm, Akisa and Yuno and a couple of other girls entered the classroom and immediately rushed towards my desk, while Yuno's eyes glittered dangerously.

- What do you want? - I glared coldly at the crowd, but the twinkles in the girls' eyes flared up even more despite my efforts to ward them off.

- Amano, they told us you were hit by a truck! - Oji Kosaka started to answer me. He was a class bully, with shoulder-length black hair. I remember in canon, Yukiteru shot him when he was getting to that huge baba with the daughter diaries, whose number I can't remember. - what happened to you?

- That's funny. - I smiled slightly with a cold smile. - You suddenly cared about me. - Yes, even before that, Kosaka often bullied Yukiteru because of his aloofness and strange habit of writing a diary about everything going on around him. So the owner of the carcass in question disliked him terribly, sometimes even trying to avoid him. - And why the sudden interest in my humble person?

From my speech, all around froze, staring at me in amazement. Yes, my behaviour is drastically different from that Yukiteru. We're like heaven and earth, only triple broken.

- Amano, yes to you I see, the lorry has completely blown your brains out! - One of Kosaki's "gang", who together with him often mocked Yukiteru, laughed moronically.

- Well, at least I have something to tear down. - I grinned, getting up from my desk and feeling the excitement due to the growing tension.

- What?! - instantly sulked insulted. - I'll get you now..." His hand reached for my thick hair, clearly intending to grab it, and then several things happened simultaneously.

Yuno flashed her eyes, quickly grabbing the pen and heading towards us. Akise also quickly moved closer, even slightly startling me with his concern. Well, a second later, the kid who decided to pull my hair flew back a good couple of metres, knocking down two desks at once. Hmm, so much for the broken nose.

It's a shame I can't eat him right here. Release the kagune, activate the kakugans and savouring the horror on his face, slowly tear off his limbs, devouring him.

The crowd instantly recoiled from me, and Kosaka tried to antagonise me. As a result, his hand ended up in my grasp and the guy screamed wildly. After a couple of seconds, I spoke loudly:

- Kosaka. If you or your mates come near me again, I won't mess around and I'll break more than just your nose like that guy.

I let the guy go... and he instantly tried to punch me in the face with his fist.

- You should have. - I said, pulling the flying fist aside and delivering a powerful punch to the breath.

Kosaka fell to the floor, frantically trying to get a breath of air as I gave him a cold look, turning my gaze to the fallen guy with the broken nose that was now bleeding profusely. He was surrounded by a couple of guys and girls trying to do something to help, but in this situation, the most they could do was take the guy to the infirmary.

I nonchalantly adjusted my desk slightly and sat down at it as if nothing had happened. Throwing a glance at Yuno, who was watching me with delight, I smiled slightly at the girl. Hmmm... I think I know roughly what thoughts are in her head....

***

Class is over. Funny enough, I was never invited to the principal's office, and for good reason. After the incident, the teacher came in to see the injured person... however what happened, the students refused to say, as well as the broken nose itself. Well, for 12 year olds, I made too big an impression, or rather intimidated them. Too bad that didn't apply to the rest of the female population of the school.

Notable was the fact that for the rest of the day, Yuno was... extremely horny, if I may say so. She had a constant smile on her face, a slight blush on her cheeks, and followed me around the school ALL THE TIME. A little distant, of course, but still.

Akise, on the other hand, was in a much more... pensive position. He was following me as well, though not as insistently, apparently trying to understand my behaviour. Perhaps it was his detective instincts kicking in, but that was beside the point.

Right now, I was leisurely following the street of a city that was almost an exact replica of Tokyo TG, although it was called Sakura. Yes, there is Tokyo in this world too, but for some reason, this particular city is almost an exact replica of mine. Probably because it's the city where the main events of the canon take place. So, I, looking at the street names and house numbers, was gradually approaching the place where Anteiku used to be. Behind me, with a gap of 30 metres was Yuno, sometimes amusing me with her confused and delighted expression. Hmm, I'll have to catch her stalking later, hee hee hee! Damn hormones...

Meanwhile...

- Hmm..." the brunet stretched out, looking at the small screen showing a white-haired guy walking down the street. - I think there's more fun to come. It'll be interesting to watch his emotions...
